"It's like my bike. Gas is up here on the handle with the brake. These buttons change gears to go faster or slower. Pretty simple." Jake explained to the pack as we stood in the carport behind the house. My dad had a bunch of ATVs for when we had guests or my friends were over and we all went riding or hunting.
Embry, Quil, and I piled on my yellow four-wheeler. Leah, Nova, Paul, Seth, and Jake got in the Gator--a tiny open car type ATV with two seats in the front and a little bed. We rode through the trails and to the dock at the lake. I parked in the grass and got off first.
"Race ya!" I said as I stripped down to my bikini. Embry, Nova, and I ran down the long dock and jumped into the water. I stayed under for a full two minutes, holding my breath successfully. I opened my eyes and Embry swam toward me.
I pulled his face toward mine. Underwater kisses weren't the best. We came up laughing and the rest of the guys were surrounding us, Leah and Nova swinging their feet off the dock.
"Hey, who is that? You guys smell that?" Nova narrowed her eyes and pointed toward the woods on the other side of the lake. I turned to see someone standing among the trees near the water. His face was flawless and beautiful... and then I realized it was my ex-boyfriend that died almost a year ago. I gasped.
"Anna? What is it?" Embry pulled me toward the dock and lifted me up. I blinked and the face disappeared.
"It was Allen, my ex. He died in the car accident with my dad. I saw him. He was dead! I went to his funeral!" I started shaking and Leah carried me back to the house, running. We stepped in the back door and there he was.
I screamed and heard the guys yell. He raised his arm and hit Leah on the side of her head, sending her flying into the wall. I fell to the ground and crawled toward the door.
"Oh, no you don't," Allen said, grabbing my waist and pulling me up. I screamed and thrashed against him, hurting myself in the process.
"Anna!" Quil yelled, appearing in the doorway. "Shit..." He stopped on a dime and the others ran into him. Embry appeared next to him.
"Ah, so this is your new boyfriend, huh? He imprinted on you," Allen said, disgusted. I struggled against him. Seth rushed over to Leah who was opening her eyes slowly.
"Let her go," Embry snarled, shaking violently. Quil and Nova held him back.
"I don't think so." Allen said, brushing his lips over my throat. And then he took me.
My ex-boyfriend is a vampire and he just kidnapped me. Great.
