Kai whistled as he walked into the precinct. Smiling at people and walking with a pep in his step.
It had been two weeks that him and Mary had been going out. Things were going surprisingly well. So well in fact, that Kai hadn't made fun of Shawn once this week.
It flabbergasted Shawn.
Especially when Kai gave him a hug this morning. Not a "bro hug." But a "hug" hug.
"And what is that for?" He asked when Kai pulled away and whistled a tune as he poured two cups of coffee.
"Just a good day is all buddy." He smiled, then handed Shawn one of the cups.
"Aw you guys are finally dating." A teasing voice said from behind them.
They turned around to meet the cute snarky face of Dixie.
"Sure am, it's our anniversary too." Kai wrapped an arm around Shawn.
"AS I WAS SAYING." Sam cleared his throat.
All three turned to Sam in front of a board with pins and pictures. Officers surrounded him.
"Dude did you know we were in a meeting right now?" Kai muttered to Shawn.
As he staggered, Sam continued his speech. "Now this would be handled by army police but he was one of our own and they personally requested us. So my team will be working the case."
"Ahem, Mr C? Kai Parker here- would you mind re explaining all of this. Shawn here wasn't paying attention." Kai raised a hand.
"Dude." Shawn elbowed him.
"Army officer was shot and murdered yesterday on base." Sam rolled his eyes before speaking. "We've been requested to help with investigation. Although I've half a mind to leave you two turds here as I take Daniels with me."
"Nooooo-" they both whined.
"Shawn- doesn't your brother know army stuff? Whatever he does-" Dixie wasn't sure. "Couldn't he help?"
"Oh my gosh! He totally could. Sir, permission to call Jermaine?" Shawn asked.
"Does it matter if I say-"
"No!" He ran off to call.
Kai furrowed his brows and made his way to Dixies desk. As he sat he turned his head. "Why was I unaware Shawn had a brother?"
"He doesn't technically have any siblings. They're just really close. It's like him seeing me as a sister. They met an a convention as kids and kept in touch forever." She shrugged.
