As we both enter the cafe, I soon realize that it's the same one I went to yesterday morning. The same girl worked at the register. She had her usual bored expression, as she took a customers order.
"Is your mystery girl here?" I whisper, as we stand in line.
"Just shut up and watch." He grumbles before leading the way, as the customer in front of us goes to the check out area.
"Bonjour, comment puis- oh hey it's you again. What may I get you." She smiles, keeping her eyes focused on me.
"Um just a black coffee." I smile, before nudging Julian to go.
"U-uh I'll take the same."
He stammers a little, causing my eyes to widen in disbelief. So it's her?
Her eyes slowly avert to his, giving him a once over before allowing a small smile to slip at her lips.
"Will you guys be paying separately ?" She questions. Before I could say no, Julian shoves his card in her hand, before running his fingers through his blonde strands.
Was he nervous?
"Here." She hands him back his card after running it. As he goes to grab the card, his index finger slightly touches her knuckle. He clears his throat, and places the card in his back pocket.
"Your drinks will be served over there. Enjoy." She smiles at us both, receiving one back.
Before I could fully turn around, I was already being pulled to the other side of the small cafe.
"It's her isn't it?" I ask, cheesing like a maniac.
"Maybe." He crosses his arms over his chest, making me smile.
Young love, how cute.
"So are you gonna shoot your shot or not?"
"What?" He scrunches up his face.
"Are you going to make a move on her?" I ask in more of a deadpanned tone.
"I don't do that. Nor do I know how to..." he pauses, running his tongue across his top row teeth.
"I need a favor." He finally states, keeping his eyes directly on the mystery girl.
"I need you.." he points at me, averting his gaze right on me.
"I need you to invite her to Giveon's performance tonight." He says in more of a questioning tone.
"If I do, what do I get out of it?" I quiz, making him scoff.
"I'll set you up on a date with Giveon." He smirks. The feeling of my throat slowly closing, causes me to choke on nothing but air.
"W-what?"
"Oh please, I know you have eyes for him. Besides he's single." He shrugs.
"I thought Lizzy said he was with Andrea?"
"There's a lot of things you don't know about our friend group Georgia." He states almost too seriously.
Before I could respond, he pushes me forward before turning around and abruptly making his way to the men's bathroom.
I let out a sigh, before mentally forcing myself to talk my body into moving forward. Finally building the courage, I put on a smile and make my way over to the counter.
As I await for the customer to be finished their order, I move to the side and plop my elbows up on the counter.
"Votre commande sera là- bas" (Your order will be over there.)
The customer smiles, before making their way over to the waiting area. She then turns towards me, giving me a small smile as she nervously runs her hands on the fabric of her green apron.
"How may I help you ?" She beams.
"Remember the Goldilocks, white chocolate drop that had stood beside me when you were taking my order?" I question innocently, making her chuckle as she nods her head slowly.
"Well he spy's his little eye on a beautiful girl, he'd love to sweep up off of her feet. See he has feelings for this girl, but is to much of a pussy to admit it. That girl he's feeling, may or may not be you." I smirk. A small blush scatters along the fair skin along her cheeks.
Is she feeling him too?
"He wants to know if you're busy tonight, and if not then would you do this in his honor of joining him at his friends piano recital?"
She stares at me for a moment before letting out a sigh, and putting up a "reviens dans 5 minutes" sign on the register. (I'll be back in 5 minutes).
"I need to grab something from my car, follow me yes?" She asks, making me nod as she then leads the way.
"Although I'm flattered, I'm currently having issues with the father of my son Caleb."
"You have a son?" I gasp, giving her a once over. She didn't look anything older than 20.
"Yeah. I was 17 when I had him. Me and my boyfriend at the time were scared shitless when we both found out." She laughs lightly, before popping her trunk and pulling out a king sized deer park bottled water.
"So wait... how come y'all didn't work out?" I ask. I hope it isn't too personal.
"Um we just became toxic to one another. It wasn't healthy anymore. And whenever it was time for him to watch Caleb, he'd find any excuse to bail out. My mom basically put down her foot for me, and threatened to put him on child support if he didn't step in and be a father to the child he helped create."
I frowned at her words, before following her back inside the cafe.
"I'm so sorry. I don't even know you, I shouldn't have asked such a personal question." I chuckled nervously, earning a reassuring smile.
"No you're fine. I've explained that story over a million times... by the way I'm Jatavia." She states while holding out her hand for me to shake.
I take her hand in mine, before telling her mines.
"I'm Georgia."
A throat clears behind me, making us both jump in fright. It was only Julian. He stares at us with a blank expression, but had glint of hope in his eyes.
"Nice to meet you Jatavia, I'm Julian." He grins widely, before pushing past me and taking her small hand in his.
"Nice to meet you Julian." She blushes while side eyeing me. I couldn't help but smile at the small interaction.
Boy wait until he hears about the four year old son she has back home.
