Jatavia'a POV
"So do you enjoy working here?" Julian asks, as we both sit to the far left of the small cafe. He'd stopped by again today. I'd seen him a few times before our small encounter yesterday.
"I mean it's better than working at a strip club. Maybe not money wise, but sanity wise yes." I reassured, making him chuckle as he slowly blows into his cup.
He takes a sip of his regular black coffee, before softly planting the cup on the table.
"How can you drink that without any sweetener?" I chuckle while scrunching up my face. His lips quirk up some, he begins tapping his fingers alongside the warm lid of his cup.
"I'm a model so I have to maintain my figure. Besides it's just better all around. I'm not a fan of sugar." He shrugs.
That's reasonable I guess.
"How is it?" I ask.
"How's what?"
"You know, modeling ?"
He takes a sip of his coffee, before getting up and pulling his chair next to me, then taking a seat.
"It's interesting. Why are you thinking about getting into the industry?" He questions, causing me to shake my head no a little too quickly.
No shade towards models, but having to eat certain things and cut out certain things to have a figure for every clothing is probably exhausting.
"It's not for me... plus modeling isn't made for black woman."
I can tell he got a bit uncomfortable once I stated my opinion. I forget that I can't say certain things around people of his color, because then they'll take offense.
"What do you mean? There's a bunch of black Models." He says, making me shrug.
"Yeah but they only have them for one look and culture."
"Explain."
"Think about it.." I scoot up in my seat, and place my hands together on the table.
"They always have the black model in only an Afro or no hair at all. It's never a variety of styles like it is for white woman."
"Yeah I guess that's true." He frowns.
"But you can change that." His face brightens up like a child's at a candy store. He was so cute without even trying, which is why I'm so confused on why he's even speaking with me.
"Nah modeling isn't for me." I say, giving him my best smile before getting up and pushing in my chairs.
"Art is more of my talent. Anyways I have to get back to work. It was nice speaking with you, come by more often." I shoot him a wink, causing his entire face to flush into more of a redder tone.
"I'll definitely consider." He smirks, before getting up and making his way out with his coffee in his left hand.
Short chapter !
I wanted to give some insight of both Jatavia and Julian. I won't show much of their story in this book, but I'll for sure give them their own story once the Giveon and Georgia series is over.
