I head to my apartment, not feeling anything other than a throbbing headache that I deserve. I've effectively ripped my heart out and shredded it. My fault, but it doesn't make the feeling any better. Makes it worse actually.

I flop onto the lumpy mattress that I threw a blanket on top of to have a buffer layer. Who knows what was on this mattress before me. I absentmindedly rub the scars on my thighs the boys left to give me comfort as I close my eyes.

I sleep my headache off until my new phone rings. It's Gil.

"What." I state, rubbing my eyes and sitting up, holding my still slightly throbbing head.

"Good evening to you too, y/n!" He replies, practically chipper. "Your first job awaits!"

He gives me directions to an office building downtown and tells me that there's a set of keys in my mailbox to my new car. How he got my address, he doesn't say, and honestly, I don't care. I feel nothing.

I thought I knew what loneliness felt like when I lost my parents and moved away. Then, I at least had the option to call a pointy-toothed smiling face. Now I don't. I can't even bring myself to go to the cemetery to talk to my parents. I'm ashamed to tell them what I willingly walked into. I found a family and I threw it away. This black hole inside me is well deserved and a brutal, yet fitting punishment.

The thought crosses my mind that even if I have a chance to give their memories back after this, my men might not take me back.

"Welcome y/n!" Gil greets me as I step out of my new car. It's a similar model to the one I borrowed from Kirishima over the past six months. I'm shuffled inside and back to an elevator.

I'm uneasy as the doors slide closed, trapping me in with Gil. He's in a steel grey tailored suit. It's annoying that he looks good and put together. I'm disheveled and wearing sweats and a t-shirt.

Off the elevator, I can breathe a little easier until I'm brought to a conference room and allowed to pick my seat. I pick the one at the head of the table on the far side of the room, leaning back in the chair and propping my feet on the table. It's a bold move, but I don't have the ability to care right now.

"You're about to meet your partner." Gil explains with a smile that would make a used car salesman uneasy.

"Partner?" I parrot.

"We can't trust you to be alone when you complete your tasks and your partner is getting a little.... Antsy"

"Lovely" I roll my eyes. Gil offers me a glass of whiskey. I take it and down it in one go. I don't even flinch at the burn as I hold the glass out for him to refill it.

"Probably shouldn't get drunk on your first day" Gil pours water into the glass. I sneer at it and set it down, pushing it away.

"Whatever." I cross my arms and close my eyes, waiting for my 'partner'.

"I swear to fuck Gil. I told you I was done" A booming male voice yells down the hall, forcing me to open my eyes to scan for a threat. If there was anyone else on the floor, I'm sure he would be causing quite the scene.

Calvin, the commissioner, busts through the unlocked doors, dramatically taking in the room. His gaze zeros in on my casual stance and he narrows his eyes.
