"Oh Come on Dad! Is he there? I just want to say hi?!" I whine through the phone.
"No Eden. He's not here, but your only nine your not allowed to have crushes. Remember what I told you, boys are yucky and your not allowed to date or kiss them until your in your thirty's!" I roll my eyes use to dad's rants.
"But mom is only in her thirty's and she already has me. That's not fair! He's captain America Dad!" I complain.
"Well you can talk to your mom about that? But no, no boys till your thirty. I'm not changing my mind and so what? Iron Man is sooo much cooler" he brags.
"I agree! he's my favorite. But Captain America is a close second"
"Ugh! you were doing so well! but then you kept going" he huffed.
"Dad" I laugh " You sound like a nine year old"
"Yeh, well so do you!" he whined childishly.
"No way! that's weird. It's not like I'm nine or anything" I reply sarcastically.
"Oh lord! you are too much like me! Right princess I have to go and play the best superhero of all time" he exaggerated.
"Love you dad! talk to you tonight! and kick the bad guys booties!"
"Love you too! and of course I will!"
I ended the phone call with a content sigh. Phone calls with my dad were definitely one of my favorite parts of the day.
My thoughts were soon interrupted by the sound of the doorbell.
Confused to who would be calling at our house, I peek out the window.
Furniture trucks littered the road. We must be getting new neighbors!
Oh I hoped there would be someone to play with when I don't have to dance. I could here chatter down stairs, mom must've invited whoever it was inside.
"Eden! Come down here. I want you to meet our new neighbors" Mom called up the stairs.
I check myself in the mirror making sure I look presentable. "Coming Mom!"
"Sorry, she was just finishing up her homework" I heard mom explain.
Walking into the kitchen I notice a friendly looking couple, my dads age. "Eden sweetheart come meet are new neighbors. This is Margaret Duffy and her husband Séan Duffy, and this is their son Jacob he's only two years older than you."
I shyly made my way over, " Hi, It's nice to meet you" I politely greet.
"Well aren't you beautiful! Oh you've got such gorgeous eyes and hair!" Margaret squealed bringing me into a bone crushing hug.
Blushing profusely, I thank her.
Looking up I notice Jacob staring at me. I give him a sweet smile hoping we could be friends.
"Yes, she's her daddy's princess!" Angelina laughs.
Mom moves around the kitchen making beverages for the family, they talk about everything under the sun. I sit quietly listening to them.
"Sweetie why don't you give Jacob a tour and pack your dance bag before you come down. Okay?"
"Okay mom!" I quickly grab Jacob's unsuspecting hand and pull him up the stairs.
"Woah! slowly down Barbie!" he exclaimed.
"What Barbie?! my name's Eden-Rose not barbie" I say stopping.
