"Dad...."
"Yes Eden?" he asked, turning around to face his daughter.
"Do you think we could go to the beach today?" I asked apprehensively.
Sighing Robert placed his script down, mulling the idea over in his head for a few minutes he came to his decision.
"Ok, but we have to be very careful"
"Really!! Oh my gosh! thank you" I squealed jumping up and down.
Shaking his head at her excitement, he stood up and joined her doing their happy dance.
"What is going on in here?" Susan asked, holding up a tray of lemonade.
Pausing mid jump Robert turned to look at her, "We have just decided we're going to spend the day at the beach. Isn't that right princess?"
"Mmhmm" Eden nodded. Still not comfortable around his dad's new 'friend'.
"Oh that sounds fun!" Susan replied, with a faux grin.
Robert looked at Eden who was avoiding his eyes, he wanted to invite Susan but knew if he did Eden would become upset.
The room went silent, both adults waiting to see if Eden would invite her.
"Well... I'm going to go get ready" Eden whispered, running out of the room.
Sighing Robert ran a hand down his face.
"Sorry... she'll come around. She already agreed to stay here for the week, knowing you'd be here. That's a step in the right direction" Robert said trying to remain upbeat.
Smiling faintly at his efforts, Susan just shrugged. She wasn't hurt by Eden's slow pace of wanting to get to know her.
She was just slightly impatient, after hearing so much about her. Susan wanted to get to know Eden better. She was after all the light in Robert's life and nothing would change that.
"I know Rob...I just can't wait for her to let me in. She truly is a precious little girl" She replied, accepting his hug.
"What's the plan when your working? where does Eden usually go?" she asked, curiously. Hoping to spend some quality time with her.
"Her Aunt Sarah is with her, she's visiting friends at the moment. But tomorrow she'll home school Eden, then bring her to dance classes and then whatever job Julia has prepared for Eden. I have't gotten around to check out her schedule just yet" he listed off the top of his head.
"For someone so young, she defiantly is a busy little bee" she laughed.
"Just how she likes it. Eden hates if she's not working or keeping busy. That's why we try to take family holidays when she's working abroad, she gets to see the country she's working in more that way anyway" he shrugged, smiling at the sound of Eden running down the stairs.
"You best go get ready... I don't think Eden's going to want to wait around"
"Yeh, your right" he sighed, pecking her on the cheek before walking out the room.
Susan laughed as she heard the pair childishly arguing in the hallway.
"Dad! your not even ready yet.."
"I'm going, I'm going!"
"Faster mister, it'll be night time before you walk up those stairs at this rate" Eden sassed, crossing my arms.
