((Not really sure how to do skip scenes for the summer stuff, but I’m gonna try. Each scene will be broken up with **** for bakugou and Kagami scenes and ^^^^ for Kurama shit. I want to establish her relationships with the Pros that saved her and the school.))

It had been a full week since I’d come back to Japan, but let me tell you, it hasn’t been without events. Bakugou and I had met the last three days in a row and sadly the asshole is growing on me.

Nezu and I finally scheduled a meeting to talk about my admission, so I was riding over the school now.

I haven’t been here in over a year, but it was almost the exact same.

Scanning my watch at the ID station, I continued through the vacant halls until I reached the Principal’s office.

My fist made my usually rhythmic knock as it connected with the door, “Come in, Ms. Aizawa!” Nezu’s cheery voice answered.

I pushed through the door with a wide smile, “Long time no see Principal Nezu!” I whipped out a baggy that looked suspiciously like weed, “I brought you your favorite tea.”

“Bless your heart! I’ll make a pot for us to share.”

Nezu and I decided to play a game of chess along with our tea. He was one of the few people I had a hard time matching in intelligence, so we’d been playing games like this since I was first rescued.

I think he secretly enjoys having someone who can rival him in intelligence, along with life experience. Since both of us had been experimented on by cruel humans, it gave us a similar perspective on life.

“So the entrance exams… I’m going to take them right?” I asked nervously fiddling with the Lollypop stick in my mouth.

I was fully aware of my experience advantage over other students, but I wanted to see the possible next gen in action.

“If you wish to, yes. Though the teachers and I are going to have to come up with a handicap for you.” He daintily sipped his tea, sliding a pawn forward, “It wouldn’t be fair for other applicants if someone who is already in the hero field were to take the same test with the same standards.”

“Understood. I was kind of hoping you’d up the difficulty a little anyway. I could use the practice. All my missions lately have been boring as hell.” I sighed, setting myself up for a checkmate.

Nezu narily caught it and placed a pawn in my way, “You seem to have gotten less serious during your time in America. It’s good to see you acting like a child for once.” He smiled innocently, but I knew it was meant as a jab towards my inability to end the game sooner.

“I may be more light hearted, but I assure you, I haven’t lost my edge.” I trapped him with a single move, grinning, “Checkmate.”

“It seems as though you’re correct. Was that move earlier a fake out?”

“A logical ruse. You’re not an easy opponent to out strategize, ya know. I had to change the plan about 40 times just to catch you off guard.”

“Had I not fallen for it, I would’ve captured your king with one move. Quite the chance to stake your luck on.”

Everything Nezu said had some ulterior meaning, you just had to be quick enough to catch it.

I leaned back in my chair, “That’s how life works, isn’t it? It only takes one move to tip the scales. One life to save the rest of the pieces on the board. It was a risk, but it was calculated.” a sigh escaped my lips, “Chess has one thing wrong though.”
