Evan sat quietly in the Library in his usual spot, his phone sat in his hand, tapping the edge against his other hand. All morning he had tried coming up with a reply to Lotus. Although he couldn't think of anything. He didn't know whether to talk about what happened with Anderson or to change the topic.
If he did talk about it, would he just look arrogant and bigheaded? And if he just changed the topic, that seemed incredibly rude.
"Hey man!" Connor calls as he walks over, Evan slightly surprised he came. He definitely thought Connor would of stood him up. It wasn't like he was anyone special, and thought Connor would of noticed that.
"Hey." Evan smiles. Connors eyes drift to the beanbag he had sat in before and noticed the book on it. "Told you I'd not take it." Evan adds with a slight grin.
"Nice." Connor lightly chuckles as he grabs the book and takes the seat. "So, you got the pen from Zoe? She didn't give it back, saying she wanted to talk to you or something." Connor asks.
"Shit." Evan mutters. "I, well she did talk to me. But when it came time to you, get it back... Anderson turned up." Evan tells Connor. Who stiffened at the name.
"What that jackass do?" Connor asks, his voice strained as Connor tried to remain calm. And Evan was surprised Connor didn't know.
"Oh... Well, he... Well, you know I definitely don't think this but, he called Zoe the School shooters sister." Evan starts, and he clocks that Connor tensed up even more at the nickname. And he thought about not telling him what else Anderson had said, but he couldn't lie to his friend. Well possible friend.
"Is that it?" Connor asks, clearly annoyed. But Evan knew it wasn't at him.
"Well.. he also said that he.. um, had to search her." Evan says very quietly. And Connor switched. His face tightened as anger stretched across it.
"I'm gonna fucking kill him." Connor says as he pushes himself up and makes a b-line straight for the door.
"No no no." Evan says, scrambling ahead of Connor and pressing his hand on Connors chest to stop him.
"He fucking touched my sister, Evan! I'm gonna kill him!" Connor yells, drawing the attention of everyone around. Bit even the Librarian didn't dare get involved.
"No, he didn't!" Evan exclaims. "I.. well, I you know. Put myself between them." Evan tells Connor.
"Wait, you.. you stood up for Zoe?" He asks, clearly confused.
"Well, I couldn't let him touch her. And his voice... It sounded real creepy. And that's coming from me." Evan begins to says quickly.
"And I'm sure you expecting something from her because you were her knight in shining armour, huh?" Connor asks, his voice still threaded with annoyance and anger. And Evan must admit, he was incredibly hurt by that accusation.
"What! No, of course not Connor!" Evan says, his voice carrying abit more authority to it. "Do you really think I'm that type of person?" Connor doesn't speak for a second, and Evan wasn't exactly sure what was about to have happen.
"You're right." Connor sighs, and so did Evan. But his was a sigh of relief. He knew that Connor would hit him, and he would understand it in a way. "I'm sorry. It's just... People normally don't do that sort of stuff without wanting something." Connor says. And it sounded like he knew that from experience. His voice carried a slight amount of guilt to it.
"I just wanted to make sure she wasn't hurt, Connor. I promise. Shall we sit back down?" Evan asks softly, not wanting to provoke Connor after he just calmed down. Connor nods and walks back over to the beanbags. Evan catches the eye of the Librarian, who gives him an approving nod. Although Evan wasn't sure what to do, so he just turned his head and walked over to the bean bags.
