After he entered the next room Kalen didn't even wait for the announcer to begin, he just quickly activated his Nen and crushed the organs of everyone in the room, killing them all instantly."Examinee number 69, proceed to the next room", the voice said.
This time he turned the corner to find a set of stairs. Ahh, he was finally getting somewhere after.. about five hours.
Upon entering the room, he sensed a familiar presence, one he would and could never forget. No, it wasn't possible. He'd killed him. He'd killed them all.
Despite the denial, a frown still appeared on his face. The announcer grinned slightly after noticing the small bit of doubt the teen was showing.
"Are you sure you don't want to turn back? It isn't too late yet..", the man asked teasingly, clearly getting excited.
He didn't get a response, instead all he witnessed was the boy taking a deep breath and relaxing once again. There was no one that he could visibly see, though he knew someone was definitely behind the bars at the other side of the room. He just hoped it wasn't who he thought it was.
"Alright, you have reached the final room of the Trick Tower. If you are able to defeat this opponent by either forcing him surrender or killing him then the door will open leading you to an elevator where you will be sent to the bottom of the Trick Tower. However, if you surrender or if you are killed, you will fail the exam and the prisoner will be released", the announcer explained.
A few moments later Kalen heard the sound of handcuffs clicking open and falling to the floor and the prison bars opened and someone with a bag over his head stepped out.
Kalen was feeling extremely uneasy over the presence of this person that stepped out. His body wanted to tremble and run but he didn't because he couldn't possibly lose now. Not even to that person.
The man then brought his hands to the bag that was over his head and ripped it off. Kalen flinched at the sight of the man. Why, why did it have to be him. Why did it have to be Mori. He was internally breaking down but hell was he going to let it show.
He immediately recognized who it was, how could he not? His eyes widened slightly and he unconsciously backed away.
"F-fuck, it's not possible. No. I-I killed you.", he stuttered in a horrified sounding whisper.
"You did. You almost did, haha. But here I am, alive and well, rotting in prison. Don't worry little brat, I won't let you go this time.", the man said laughing manically. "You were supposed to let me finish my experiment, my discovery could have been groundbreaking! I could have made so many more little killing machines like you, but nooo, you just had to kill everyone in my lab. You really thought you could get rid of me that easily? I practically made you, you're nothing without me."
Kalen couldn't say anything. No matter how hard he tried. He was scared. Fearful. Something he hadn't been in a while.
"Enough with the chit-chat, the match will begin now!", the announcer said.
The man smiled creepily before saying, "Prepared to get beaten to a pulp, experiment #473."
