"Haven please" I hear Riley say almost in tears. I glance at the clock to see it's almost 5am. I turn over in bed to see Riley rocking Haven who was still crying "Babe? Everything okay?" I asked kissing her shoulder "I don't know, I've tried everything, I've fed her, changed her, burped her but she won't settle" Riley said allowing a tear to finally fall "hey hey, don't cry" I said catching it before it fell to her chin "I'm her mother James, I should be able to stop her crying" Riley said sighing, I nodded before getting out of bed "Get some sleep Ri, you're probably overtired to. I'll get Haven to sleep" I said taking Haven out of her arms "I can do it" She said, I gave her a look before kissing her on the lips "Go to sleep" I repeated "If you can't do it though will you wake me?" She asked "Sure" I lied. There was no way in hell I would be waking her up
Riley is not one to admit when she needs help and that will always be her downfall. If I hadn't woken up, that would have continued all night with Riley waking me up This is a teammate effort and I hope sometime soon Riley realises that I'm here to help
"Okay okay" I cooed rocking Haven back and forth grabbing one of her thick blankets before going out onto the balcony One thing my mum always reminds me off, is when I was a baby. I would cry endlessly at night until I got some fresh air and then I would nod off "Oh you're like me huh" I chuckled seeing Haven instantly calm down
I took a seat on our sofa outside holding Haven in my arms "Haven baby, we need to talk" I said in my usual baby voice but surprisingly she looked up at me "Mummy is trying her best but you are wearing her thin baby, I know you don't mean to do it I know but please be nice for her" I said as Haven too my finger into her drip "Be gentle too mummy, let her recharge" I said before the baby giggled making me smile "You've got my cheek. I'll give you that" I continued placing my hand against her tiny cheek
After a lovely hour long chat on the balcony, the sun began to rise and Haven slowly fell asleep I smiled walking back into the bedroom to see Riley out for the count Putting Haven in her bassinet, I left both girls to sleep while I decided I might as well start my day Walking into the living room, I could see all the bottles, nappies, wipes etc dotted around the place from Riley trying to be superwoman
I put everything away and refilled Riley's 'changing caddie' so that if Haven woke up needing something, it was all there, these were dotted through out the flat I washed up all the dishes, sterilised all the bottles before putting them away As I headed back into the bedroom at 9am I could her small coo's coming from the basinet and sure enough There Haven was wide awake chewing on her thumb "Morning Haven" I chuckled scooping her up
The last thing I planned on doing today was waking up Riley, so I got Haven dressed and ready before we headed out to do a grocery shop. I couldn't help but post an Instagram to show Riley that I can dress out daughter

With that Haven and I were out the door to finish our final chore of the day I didn't mind doing this, in all honesty, I think A) Riley needed to rest more then she'll ever admit B) this will hopefully make Riley realise she isn't doing this alone
"Shall we get mummy some flowers" I smiled looking at Haven who was giggling away "What about these" I smiled holding up some pink and white roses As soon as Haven saw them she started clapping "Clapping? That's new Hav" I replied before finally decided on some flowers

"Where did you guy- go" Riley said pausing slightly "you cleaned up and went shopping?" She asked looking around the kitchen as the groceries "Yeah! And we got you some flowers" I said bringing the flowers out from behind my back making Haven laugh again "Oh they are beautiful" Riley said smelling them like she does with every bouquet I've ever gotten her "We've learnt a new party trick too" I said making Riley look at me confused before turning to Haven "Clap your hands" I said to Riley, she furrowed her eyebrows before finally doing so Riley's face then lit up seeing Haven copy her actions "Oh look at you" Riley cooed scooping Haven out of my arms
"Thankyou for all of this" Riley said a few moment later, I smiled at her walking over to her on the sofa with Haven "I would do it again in a heartbeat. You aren't doing this alone Riley, I am here to help you" I said and Riley nodded "I know but I don't want to burden you" She muttered making me laugh before kissing her cheek "Burden me? Babe it took two people to make this little one" I said poking Haven's cheek making her giggle again
