Just a disclaimer, all these characters and ideas belong to James Dashner. I only own Maya!

I woke up before dawn and a little after Thomas did. We barely even said hi to each other before Minho came and opened the door for us to get out. Thomas let me out first and I hopped out with little help from anyone.

Minho told me that Newt needed me and to be quick because it had something to do with Alby.

That's all I needed to hear before I ran off in the direction of the infirmary. I burst through the door to see Newt pacing back and forth.

"What happened?" I asked quickly.

"He keeps mumbling your name in his sleep." Newt rambled. "Why?"

"W-what?" I walked up to Alby's bedside and kneeled down so I could see for myself.

He did it. My name slipped from his lips in a harsh whisper.

"Maya." Newt said, in a warning tone.

"I swear, I don't know why this is happening!" I exclaimed, standing up.

"You and Thomas both have something to do with this! That's why he attacked you and now your name is coming from his lips!" He yelled.

"Stop it!" I screamed. "What is wrong with you?"

"I'm starting to see that Gally was right." Newt murmured.

"Gally..." I scoffed and shook my head. "You listen to me Newt, I have been nothing but loyal to you and this Glade and if it was all somehow my fault then I know for a fact that I can't change what I did. And wasn't it you saying it didn't matter!"

Newt looked away from me and stepped to the side, away from the door. That was my sign to leave. So I did.

I burst out of the door in search of Gally. We were supposed to be good, he was supposed to trust me. What happened?

"Gally!" I called angrily as I walked up to the weapons shed..

He turned around and frowned. "What?"

"The next time you wanna spread crap about me, I much rather you do it to my face." I snapped.

"Why? So you can spit on me? Alby is saying your name. Teresa was saying Thomas' and it only makes sense that somehow you two know more than you let on." He explained.

"You're a real asshole."

Gally scoffed and went back to work as I turned and headed to the forest.

He turned Newt against me. Soon the entire Glade would side with him and it wasn't fair. Nobody felt worse about Alby than Thomas and me, we knew this was because of us, we knew we triggered them. We didn't need a constant reminder. Maybe I wasn't a traitor but then again, maybe I was.

In the life I don't remember.

Once the builders were finished at the watch tower, I went up there to sit and be alone. Chuck decided to join me no matter how many times I told him not to. He sat in silence, playing with a piece of clay.

"What are you making?" I asked him eventually.

"I don't know yet. Anything that will keep me company I guess. Being the youngest sucks sometimes." He sighed.

"Yeah I hear ya."

"It's not your fault you know." He said suddenly.

"But what if it is, Chuck? What if I put you here?" I wondered aloud.

"It doesn't really matter anymore. You up made for it. If you did put us here, you now see how hard it is to be surrounded by these four walls day in and day out." He replied.

"I don't know, Chuck. Not everyone sees what you see. Not even Newt." I said, sadly.

"He will. He really likes you and he's just scared. He needs someone to blame right now." Chuck said.

"Oh great, I'm the first person he blames."

"Maybe not. I mean there's still Thomas and Theresa." Chuck said.

"Yeah. You should get back to work." I gently nudged him.

"Fine. But I'm only leaving cause I know you'll bring me down yourself and that wouldn't be pretty." Chuck joked.

I smiled and gently nudged him again. "Get outta here shorty."

Chuck chuckled and climbed down from the watchtower, leaving me to my thoughts.
