A rod slammed upon his roll top desk and the King jumped upon the sudden intrusion. He spun around to see his Governess, a strict expression on her face as she stared down from her spot above him.
"If you are to become Emperor, you must know the History of the Kingdoms as your own. And you will have your head crowned in the next moon in the presence of your people. You chose to not continue your heritage by disregarding all the princesses and rich maidens. So, you must occupy that time to study." The rod struck his hand and he growled under his breath from the stinging pain it left on his nerves. The King nodded with a bow in apology before rising from his seat, the woman stepping back to give him space.
"Where were we, King Bakugou?" She questioned as she put the rod behind her back, crossing her wrists to lock them behind her.
"Telling me about the lost Kingdom or whatever." The blond said which earned another rod to the hand that crossed to his chest. The woman bared a prayer to the above before she looked back to the king. He was closing his eyes and fisting his hands, holding back his anger, but still dared to seethe at the woman.
"Don't whack me-"
"Then don't speak of the Beryls for they are the ones that lost their leaders and bore the loss of their home. The Beryl kingdom fought war alongside our Empire. It's because of them that our kingdom has become the largest Empires ever known." She interrupted with her tone overlapping the blonds low one, standing up straight.
"We had a promise with the Beryls. Once the King and Queen would pass, we would take charge of their land since they couldn't provide an heir." She continued but her anger seemed to get the better of her when the King spoke.
"Then they should have prayed for the 'god of fertility'." He quoted and the woman tensed as she clutched at her rod and brought it out to point it at him, who didn't like the act at all.
"Do not ridicule their beliefs or jeer at the fact of not being able to conceive an heir! For all the years that I have taught you, you fail to recognize the power of divinity—!"
"I am not part of your church and nor should you keep pushing your luck into trying to make me a believer!" The king roared in anger as he flicked the stick away with his arm. He stepped forward to try and take control of the argument, as he did many times before, but the woman didn't relent. She started repeating the same sentence she always had during their not-so-educational sessions.
"For once the world ruled in structural rank, we now live in a society of a game of cards. The King may be the highest in certain games, but at times, the Ace overrules all the cards." She put her hands behind her back, straightening her posture. The spectacle glinted from the windows light, reflecting on her expression as she stared ahead at the blond. "I am not forcing any of my beliefs of the Gods onto you. But what I am doing is telling you the story of the Beryl kingdoms falling down and about their prodigy." The woman took a breath as the blond before her had calmed down from his vexation.
