Katsuki paced around his room now, having returned from the news that his father had the plague. He was suspicious, yes, but Katsuki had to get out of his own head and look at things in an open perspective. For him, Sasaki was not to be trusted.

He was a wild card that has an ability he and his mother describe as 'foresight', being able to tell someone's future. But, Sasaki specifically said that it was a curse, which could mean that it either brings him pain, or some other factor that Katsuki isn't currently aware of. But either way, it was the closest thing to Magic. He was also a very questionable traveler from what Katsuki understood and didn't know if the 'lengths' he once had gone to have something, could still linger in his heart to this day. Sasaki had made good fortune from his adventures instead of having come from a wealthy family. Yet, how he still seems to have much more coin to consume now was also a curiosity of his.

Sasaki was a wild card, but one Mitsuki trusted enough to invite into the castle.

Despite her ways of doing things, making demands rather than requests even when it's not her place, Mitsuki was not someone who put her trust in just anyone. A trait Katsuki also shares with her, so it comes to his understanding that Sasaki is very important to her, like Shoto is to him. Prospectively speaking, anyhow. She must have experienced Sasaki's vision first hand if she believed in his foresight so much she put it in front of the, possibly, dying King's needs.

Katsuki doubts she would tell him since she hadn't said a word to him about any of Sasaki's predictions, and asking now would be futile from how agitated she looked back at court. He didn't fully grasp why she was so dismissive about Sasakis suggestion, whatever it might have been. It leads Katsuki to believe a few possibilities.

Firsthand, Sasaki had mentioned that the King from centuries ago was cured because of something the prince did of that time. If Katsuki were to align with the situation, that would mean him since he is not yet crowned. What this prince had done was still confusing besides finding someone who held healing Magic, something that is uncommon since a magic user is prosecuted for anything but.

Secondly, he had a suspicion that Mitsuki believed Katsuki was going to be infected by the plague alongside Masaru. If he thought about it, before Masaru fell 'ill', Mitsuki became strict about Katsukis wearbouts. Wanting to keep him inside the castle with the recent excuses of 'make sure to bed your wife so we have an heir as soon as possible' and whatnot. Sasaki had told her that he was going to get affected by the nameless plague and never wake up, and in response she stopped allowing him outside of the castle.

Visiting the Archives was something he had executed without her knowledge, but she was angry when she found out nonetheless.

It would align with what Sasaki and Mitsuki said about her having to reign the Empire alone. Without Masaru, or the next King in line, which would be him after Masarus supposed death unless something would have happened. Like falling to the plague.
