Nita's mind was scrambled as she stormed across the village-- everyone now turning in as the curfew was less than an hour away-- and went directly for Andres' hut. She was angry. No, she was enraged. Her father keeping secrets from her was her last straw. She refused to spend another day in that village. She refused to spend another day under His control.

Nita had to leave.

She saw the glow of a light inside Andres' hut so she knew he or his brother, Diego, was there. When she marched up the steps she realized it was his brother when he answered the door.

"Where's Andres?" She asked him as he leaned against the threshold, drying his hands with a rag.

Diego and Andres looked alot alike although Diego packed on a little more muscle and stood a little taller, but Nita was never attracted to that as the rest of the young women and some of the young men were. And where Andres wasn't respected by the village, it was the exact opposite for Diego. He was the golden boy who practically had a line-up of possible suitors outside his door every day. All the elders asked him for help if they needed something repaired, and he was overall admired by everyone. And whenever Andres did something to elicit shaking heads from the people, she could hear murmurs of pity that Diego was the one who had to deal with him.

That poor man has to put up with a brute like his brother, or, what a shame those two are related, I'm sure he'd be much better off without a younger brother like that. As if they didn't know what horrible things had happened to that family already. Everyone knew, and that was also why Nita made it her sworn duty to befriend Andres, because no one else would and he would be all alone.

"Probably up in a tree or in the river," he said with a shrug. Nita was glad Andres had Diego as his brother because it was evident that the two really cared for one another and looked out for each other, despite what was said amongst the other villagers.

The river-- that's usually where he went to be alone. So, Nita jumped back down the stairs and started toward the river. When she breached the treeline and her feet met the sand, she almost had to stop in her tracks at the beautiful image that lay before her. Andres was laid on his back in the water, behind him the mountains and endless jungle, the sun now hidden behind the rolling hills, casting a golden pink glow through the cloudless sky where a handful of stars were starting to shine through.. Breathtaking.

After a few moments of admiring what lay before her, she regained her train of thought and started toward the water.

"Andres!" She called and he didn't hear her as his ears were under water with his eyes closed. She took another couple steps, now ankle deep in the water. "Andres!" She called louder. This time he heard and shot up, water dripping down his sculpted torso, making it shine.

"Nita, what's wrong?" He asked, taking in her troubled expression.

"Come on," she said, turning around.

"Where are we going?" Andres asked, rushing out of the river behind her.

Nita turned to face him, nothing but courage and excitement coursing through her body. "We're leaving. Tonight.
