Synopsis:

"Kenchin..." Mikey finally opened his mouth but his face still buried in Draken's chest.

"Hmm?"

"Am I... a bad friend?" Mikey whispered.

Draken raised his eyebrow. "Why do you say that?"

"Baji..." Just by mouthing his name itself, more tears fall from Mikey's eyes. His sobs grew louder. His breath hitched. "He died... because of me."

A/N: Ok, so I've been wanting to write this fic for so long ever since ep 22 came out and Damn, it actually took me this long to write it. Apart from being busy with reality, it's kinda hard to convey what I wanted to write in this story. Alas, it's already finished.

This event takes place after Bloody Halloween. We can see there's like 2 weeks gap until the scene where both Draken and Michi visits Kazutora. So yeah, I'm filling in that gap.

Mikey is a bit OOC in this because as far as we know, he's the type to hide his feelings but not here. :)

"Are you sure you're okay?" Draken asked, looking straight into Mikey's eyes. A lot of things can go wrong with what they're about to do. However, he himself couldn't deny that they should be held responsible for it. But seeing Mikey's condition, he was not sure if they should go for it or wait until Mikey's ready. To be honest, Draken would rather go by himself if he could, but Mikey insists he should follow. At one point, he had to give in when Mikey's stubbornness won in the end.

"I'm fine. We should've done this days ago." Mikey responded, his voice determined but his eyes looked hollow to Draken. He's currently losing sleep and barely eats anything. Emma was distressed by it as he's not showing up to the dinner table. She even tried to bring food to his room but it was left untouched when she retrieved it.

She tried to urge Draken to do something but even he himself was at a loss. He's been checking on him everyday and his conditions worsen with each passing day. Dark eye bags hanging on his eyes and is it just him or does Mikey look slightly thinner than before?

Draken tried to bring a bunch of Mikey's favorite snacks but he just looked in the distance without even sparing a glance at it. Draken does understand. After all, their friend just died.

But, that doesn't mean he should ignore his health. It's been a week since Bloody Halloween happened. Despite winning the war, the loss seems to outweigh their victory. They've lost one of their precious members in the process.

"Mikey, I really think we should go another day. You, of all people, should take a rest." Draken suggested but Mikey shakes his head in response.

"No, I'm done resting." He won't be at peace at this rate. He needs to face it. He needs to take responsibility for it.

"Let's go." Mikey started walking but paused halfway on his tracks. He softly muttered but his eyes avoided Draken's gaze. "Just... promise me you'll be with me through everything."

Draken looked at him but he didn't say anything. He was worried about him, yes. However, at the very least, Mikey tried to lean on him. His heart fluttered. His lips formed a small smile. 'Of course I will', a silent promise. He closed their distance together and pat Mikey on the head, assuring him that no matter what, he'll be there for him.

Mikey felt relieved at the touch. He nodded in response before continuing their journey.

They walked side by side until they arrived at an apartment complex.
