McGonagall looked at the five Marauders in front of her. "What do you have to say for yourselves?" she questioned them, her eyes landing on Remus.

He was usually the most level-headed and best-behaved one. However, the joint Andrea had given him to chill earlier was still playing its part.

Remus held up a finger as if he was about to make an important announcement. "I'm aware of the issue and I apologize." Behind him, Andrea bit into her fist to stop from laughing.

Sirius grinned and turned to McGonagall too. "The way we acted was barking mad," he said, clapping a hand to James' shoulder.

"I'm deerly sorry," James smiled proudly, turning to look at Peter. "We'll be squeaky clean from now on," he said with a choked laugh.

"It was very rude-olf us to misbehave," Andrea added with a proud grin. Sirius held his palm up and they silently high-fived.

McGonagall removed her glasses and rubbed her forehead as if a headache had suddenly come over her. "Teenagers will be the death of me," she muttered to herself.

"May I suggest a change in profession, then," Remus snorted, his wolf hearing allowing him to hear the whisper none of the others had picked up.

McGonagall put her glasses on again and gave them all a death glare, making James look down in shame. She reminded him way too much of his mum when she looked at them like that.

"Get out," she suddenly said, her voice curt and short. Peter spun quickly, shoving Andrea and Sirius towards the exit before the chatterboxes made it worse.

"She forgot to give us a punishment," Sirius whispered excitedly. Remus facepalmed as he spoke a bit too loudly.

"You'll all be joining Madam Pince in the library tomorrow and as many days as it takes to sort through everything, restocking the shelves and sorting through misplaced books."

James turned to protest because tomorrow they were playing Ravenclaw. McGonagall lowered her chin and looked at him over the rim of her squared spectacles.

"After the match, obviously. I'm not gonna let Filius win just because you five can't seem to stay out of trouble." James breathed out a sigh of relief. He grinned proudly at his teacher before bowing deeply. "Don't worry, we'll make you proud, Minnie," he said confidently, finally turning to follow his friends out.

Just as he was about to close the door, McGonagall spoke quietly so only he would hear.

"I know you will, Potter."

James smiled from ear to ear, closing the door and following the sound of his rowdy friends joining them again.

Tomorrow, they would win. Not just for team morale or because James wanted a victory as Captain.
