Everything Has Changed

I Watched You Go

She opens the box slowly and she saw a little kitten. She covers her mouth with her hands surprised.

By the time she took the kitten in her arms, out of the box her jaw dropped and her eyes turned into hearts. It was so little and so cute. She strokes its fur and it purs. Are you a purring motorrrr she says playfully and Joe can't help but laugh.

It was a boy. He had wide blue eyes and white and brown fur. Taylor's heart can't stop beating fast. She always had a strong connection with animals, and especially with cats. And this cat is so special. She loves his tiny little paws.

"J-Joe...tell me this is not your neighbor's kitten..." she whispered

"It's ours" he sat next to her and smiled

"Oh my-"

"It reminded me of you so I adopted him." he said "I mean, I think you have the same eyes! It's your son!" he giggled in the end

"I can't believe we have a kitten!!" she sounded like a kid

"What should we call him?" he asks

Taylor's eyes quickly light up and states into Joe's. He gave her an awkward smile and she says "Benjamin Button! No questions why! That's his name from now on, do not try to change my mind"

Joe just watches her petting the kitten and let's out a small laugh.
Suddenly, Benjamin, jumped off Taylor's arms, and started twirling on the ground. Taylor couldn't help, and as if she was hypnotized by him, she kneels down, and starts rubbing his soft belly. He's the most beautiful cat she's ever seen in her life and she already adores him.

Joe fakes a cough so that Taylor would give him some attention after focusing completely on the kitten. She didn't though and Joe chuckled.

"In case you forgot you also have a boyfriend '" he giggles

"Shhh.... Shut up! My baby wants to play!!"

"I feel like you prefer that cat to me" he smiled

"Come on he's so cute! Anyone would love him!" the tone in her voice something he'd never heard before and he tried to supress his laughter

"He's so cute I must admit, but he's stupid! Look how he tries to climb on the nightstand!" Joe chuckled

"Do not ever say a cat stupid! Cats are highly sophisticated creatures!" she said

"Okay cat lady" he joked

"Shut uppp" Taylor said

Joe was feeling relieved seeing her smiling and happy, and not crying and sad. He was glad he managed to make her feel beautiful for once. He knows he can't be always perfect, but he knows he'll do the best he can to keep her happy and safe. He'll be her shield who protects her from every threat, disease, earthquake.
He grins and then places a soft kiss on her head. She really looks like a little kid playing with the cat. He's so impressed by that. If he knew it was that easy to cheer her up, he'd take this cat months ago. But...everything happens for a reason they say.

As he's observing her for a few minutes, he check the time in his phone. 12:58. He has to go and pick up the kids from his mother's house. So, he stands up kisses Taylor's forehead and informs her where he's going. She just waved at him and concentrated back on the kitten. Joe sighs and giggles at the same time. Then, he gets downstairs, and exits the house. He gets into his car again and starts the engine. The garage door opens and he leaves the mansion.

He's on his way when he suddenly got a message. He couldn't see it as he was driving, but in the first traffic light which was red, he took it in his hands and checked quickly his notifications.
It was an unknown number that left a message to operator. Joe opened it and heard a disgusting voice.
