Ena's POV

Nagito and I made it up to the fourth floor of Hopes Peak Academy and enclosed ourselves in one of the private study rooms to talk. It's around 4pm and most of the students are either on their way back home or off to their dorms, while others are sticking around the school to attend to their club activities.

I sat myself down at the table in the center while Nagito takes a seat facing towards me. He's wearing that calm small smile he always wears as he looks in my eyes.

Nagito then closes his eyes taking a deep breath and says "I know this is quite troubling for you Ena, to be here with trash like me....I'm almost certain you would rather be at home right now."

"That's not true." I replied.

"Ena...." Nagito's face became serious. "I've noticed you ever since we were all collectively admitted into this school. I was so intrigued by you - I just knew that there must be something more behind your story."

I scoffed softly, "You're not the only one to think that Nagito."

"I think we could prove to be beneficial to each other."

"Beneficial? How?"

Nagito posed an unreadable expression on his face. It was clear that he had intentions - but it was impossible to note whether they were good or bad - but he had intentions nonetheless.

"I am the Ultimate Lucky Student, a useless, boring, and curse of a talent." Nagito sighs. "Truly whatever your talent may be must bring some type of strong hope - a hope so strong that it simply can not be told in plain words, but rather seen by the eye and learned in that form."

I scratch my head, feeling slightly uncomfortable with Nagito's use of words and his odd obsession with hope. Then again, Nagito has always been known for being odd.

"I don't think my talent is that serious, really I seem like a regular high school student - I haven't noticed anything different about me compared to everyone else who clearly has some type of unique characteristic."

"Regardless, there must be something that made the committee saw in you that made them decide to allow you to attend here."

Nagito then reaches across the table, grabbing my hands, his face slightly leaning towards mine. My eyes are widen by his sudden gesture. His raspy voice is mellow and almost seductive yet intimidating at the same time.

"Please Ena, there's nothing more that I want than to be useful to your hope. Allow me to be your stepping stone, your pedestal in uncovering the truth of your talent."

I part my lips to speak but Nagito continues.

"I don't consider luck a true talent. Nobody knows the cycle I have to manage behind this curse. Your talent is something worth looking forward to, for the sake of the world. I believe that."

I stay silent for a moment. The room is still and Nagito still hasn't released his grip from my hands. He's clearly very determined to....help me? I guess that's what he's aiming for - though his intentions do not make any sense to me.

But then my mind flashed a image of Hajime causing me to instantly shake my head.

"No." I said firmly. "I can't allow myself to be distracted. I have to find out what happened to...Hajime."

Nagito releases his grip and sits back in his seat. The expression on his face is unclear but his voice is calm and sweet.

"Right. Hajime Hinata correct? Reserve course student..."

"Y-yes." I said surprisingly. "Um, did you know him?"

"I don't normally associate myself with the reserve students....however I do remember you sitting with him that day I came to get Chiaki during lunch."

'That's right.' I thought to myself. "Speaking of which Nagito, you seemed in a rush when you came to get Chiaki that day - was everything okay?"

Nagito smiles warmly while looking in my eyes. "Yes, Ms.Yukizome had something for her to do in the classroom - no need to worry."

Now that I think about it, of all people - I haven't talked to Chiaki since that day I seen her with Hajime during lunch. Maybe it wouldn't hurt asking her about the last time she seen Hajime.

"But...." Nagito interrupts my thoughts. "If it means a lot to you, then I could help you with your search - that's if you're okay with carrying around a useless nobody like me."

"Would you mind? I would really appreciate it...to be honest - nobody has been as concerned about Hajime's disappearance besides me. Nobody thinks it's weird."

'I guess that's one of the pressures of being a reserve student - nobody cares until you've proven yourself worthy.' I thought to myself.

Nagito smirks crossing his thin arms across his chest. "You have my trust Ena."

Nagito's POV

How amazing!

I really did it, I managed to talk to Ena and now we're friends...well partners - but I'd like to think of each other as friends. I'm just hoping she grows more fond of me eventually.

I sigh.

Words can not explain the happiness I feel right now.

The only thing is that she's worried about Hajime, which I can deal with - especially knowing he's out of the picture - wherever he is.

But my gratitude goes out to him. If it weren't for him - I don't think I would've found the courage or the opportunity to talk to someone as amazing as Ena. I guess my luck came through once again - I've been anticipating this for the longest.

I can't let it go to waste.

After some time, Ena and I decide to wrap up our conversation and head home.

Little did we both know, something big was brewing behind the scenes. Something absolutely despair inducing that will throw the entire school off balance.
