Lindsay's POV
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. Jeff was going to be here in like, ten minutes. My heart was racing, I couldn't stop smiling. I felt like I wanted to dance around and laugh and smile and cry and everything! But I had to finish packing. I wanted to be ready when he got here. That clearly wasn't going to be an option. I still had some packing to do. I'd just have to make sure I was upstairs when he showed up.
About ten minutes later, I went upstairs and into our family room. I sat in the chair in front of the window, so I could make sure I saw him first. My Mom was in her room, reading, and my Dad was on our computer in the dining room.
I was on the edge of my chair, I couldn't sit still. Adrenaline was running through me, I was so excited.
Finally, a white cab pulled up in front of my house. I stood up, I didn't quite know what else to do. I kind of ran to the door, and opened it, so he'd know to come to the right house. Nothing like going to the wrong house.
He handed the taxi driver some money and opened the door. When he stepped out, we made eye contact and it was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I walked down the front steps, to sort of meet him half way.
"Hi Jeff." I said as the words barely made it out of me. God, I was so nervous.
"Hey." he said as he dropped his bag and embraced me in a hug. I held onto him tight. I could feel that he was doing the same thing. He was a little taller than me, which made him the perfect hugging height. When I realized we had been hugging longer than usual, I pulled away. I hope it didn't hurt his feelings, and he realized why I did it.
I welcomed him inside my one storey bungalow home. It was probably the size of his garage at home in Raleigh, but I loved my home. I lived in a great neighbourhood filled with amazing people, and I loved my home. It has been a family home for three generations. I guess my parents heard a male voice they had never heard before and they both instinctively came to the family room.
"I'm so nervous to meet your parents." he whispered to me.
"Why? You have no reason to be, they're both excited to meet you and are really nice." I whispered back.
"You must be Jeff Skinner." my father said to him.
"Yes sir." Jeff said to him nervously.
I snickered. My Dad defintely wasn't a "sir" type of person, he was barely a "mister".
My Dad laughed as he extended a hand for a handshake. "Call me Dom. Or Dominic if you prefer."
"Okay sir--I mean Dominic!" he replied quickly. I softly brushed my hand against his, letting him know that I was here and he shouldn't be nervous, it was going good.
My Mom came into the room next. "Oh my, you are Jeff Skinner."
Jeff laughed nervously. "Yes, yes I am ma'am."
There he went with calling my parents formal names again. My parents weren't overly formal people, and they knew it. They could be formal, but they were also pretty laid back. I found recently that my parents are incredibly laid back with most things after their trip to the Bahamas. Boy, they changed there. They left Eva and I at home during Spring Break and went away for a week. When they came back, they were completely different, but different in a good way.
My Mom laughed. "My name is Julia. It's great to finally meet you. Lindsay has told us so much about you."
Oh god. Please Mom, please. Please don't go on about how I can memorize hockey statistics with no problem, and how I know a lot about Jeff. Please, just do this for me.
