They could see the mountain from here, and it was giant. It would take weeks to climb the thing, maybe even months. They looked at the map to see if they could find a better way."How about we just go around the right side of the mountain? It looks shorter!" Blue offered, tracing the path with his pointer finger.
"Are you crazy? That side is freezing! Not to mention the weird murderous guys that live there, attacking unlucky travelers." Killer pointed out, it was clear he knew a bit about this place. Dream wanted to ask about it but decided against it.
"Wait no, I thought they lived on the left side. It has a way better climate since it's hidden from the ocean." Error argued.
"No, they live on the right side." Killer and Error began to argue, Blue and Dream realized they had to make a decision. After some whispering to each other they came to a decision.
"Guys guys! Me and Blue decided that we'll go on the left side since it has a better climate, and we're more likely to win a fight in a pasture than the freezing cold which we haven't adapted to and could die from that alone." Dream explained, Killer smiled in satisfaction while Error mumbled something along the lines of 'Don't say I didn't warn you.'
"Let's hike a little more until we get to the mountain, where we'll camp the night and prepare to hurry through this section of the trail." Killer added as they all picked up their packs again and hurried down towards the mountain which loomed over them so ominously.
That night they ate a nice beef stew which Error made over a fire, refusing to let Blue cook.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Wakey wakey!" Blue yelled into the ears of his sleeping friends, Killer punched him out of reflex and Blue fell back. Error just laughed while Dream was asking Blue if he was alright.
"Let's have our leftover stew before heading out, I wanna be at least halfway past the mountain by sunset." Dream ordered, already serving up the beef stew to Error.
It's safe to say they weren't the fastest, it was strangely windy which made traveling difficult, considering who they were all as light as a feather and had to close their eyes so a leaf wouldn't fly into it. They still pushed though, already making it 2 miles out by noon. They were almost a quarter of the way there.
Once they reached 4.7 miles they noticed something, two tents out in this. The tents were fighting to stay in the ground, the wind kept pulling. They were nailed in well though, whoever did it was experienced.
"Crap." Error muttered under his breath, readying his strings. Seeing this Dream grabbed his bow, sword ready though if it's close combat. Blue had got his sword while Killer was using Dream's old machete.
They could practically feel the eyes on them, staring deep into their souls while they couldn't even find these stalkers. Something was suddenly moving, and fast. They had no time to react. Before they knew it a crazed man in a hood was throwing himself at Killer.
Killer say where the knife was aiming and stepped to the side, still getting a slash across his cheek though. His crimson red blood began to fall around the wound and the open wound welcomed the cold, but Killer didn't have time to think about it. Attack after attack, the two flung themselves at each other, Dream attempting to shoot the hooded man while Error tried to catch him in his strings. Blue watched, feeling helpless.
"What're you doing with this ragtag team Killer?" The attacker asked, moving his head to avoid the machete that nearly drove itself into his eyeball. Killer froze for a moment after that, which was a moment too long. The man went for his chest, Killer didn't react fast enough and the knife went into his side, he screamed out in agony, trying to push the man away as he tried to twist the knife.
"Dust stop! What the hell?!" Killer shouted at his opponent, how did he know him? That's when blue strings wrapped around the attackers, or Dust's wrists and neck. His wrist was pulled back like some kind of puppet while the one around his neck tightened. He tried to say something, but any of his words were drowned out by his choking.
Dream then shot, an arrow making it's way into Dust's side also. He tried to scream but couldn't. Closing his mouth before screaming at the top of his lungs, "N-" He was cut off.
"AH!" This brought everyone's attention to Blue, who was desperately trying to cut off a tentacle that wrapped around his waist. Then one around his arm which held the sword, he was trapped. A figure emerged from the forest, and Dream's eyes widened at the sight.
A skeleton dripping black goo which looked like ink, tentacles shooting out of his body which he could manipulate. This was all accompanied by a wicked smile.
"Brother! Let him go!" Dream shouted, aiming his bow at the new challenger. Everyone aside from Nightmare and Dream were in shock, brother?
"No." Nightmare simply stated and gave a haunting smile. "And stop calling me that, I'm not your brother." He added. Watching Dream's eyes widen in shock, but Dream suddenly felt another emotion. Anger. Blue was more of a brother to him then Nightmare would ever be, and he will protect all his friends.
