Chapter 9

Note: The lines in bold are Taanz POv.

Taani sat in the patio along with Vrush and Shar. Knowing the secrets of TLG had unnerved her. She shilly-shallied at their snickering gullibility. She had seen their vicious cruelty. She shuddered to even share a seat with them. But she was at the verge of finding out her sister. And she wouldn't give up unless she found her. She wouldn't back out, even if the stakes of hanging with them had a high ratio of her turning out to be their next prey.

"Who do you think we are going to target next, Taanz?" Vrush's chortle undid her.

"Who?" She pressured her throat to not fall from Grace.

Sneha quick winked as a bunny "it's Ash"

I couldn't believe what I heard. Ash! Were they serious?  Would they make Ash the victim of the games we played. I could feel the disgusting stench exuded out of Taani. She loathed us. Me. My friends. But she still sat here just for me. Her sister. Her only family. If she objected Vrush and Shar, doubts would arise. Henceforth, she played along.

"I'm sick of these wrong phone calls from yesterday night" Ash chucked the landline at house.

"What's wrong?" Taani was aware of those calls. It was Vrush and Shar.

"You don't need to answer them if it bothered you…" Taani warned her indirectly. But it went into bull's ear. 

"Look at yourself… I think my sister has been replaced…" Ash catcalled.

Taani stilled. It was the actual truth. Did she recognized her facade?

"I never seen you being courteous to me…" Ash surveyed her. "It's just that I miss my sister being the biggest bitch to me…" She plodded to her room without turning back.

I blinked back my unshed tears or the drops which I could feel no more. I can't believe that my sister missed me.

Ash flit out of her car at the deserted area. The address was a bite in the bullet. Her heart raced at the comprehension. Someone had messaged her to meet at the place they mentioned. And she had followed the message out of curiosity.  Now, She was trapped.

She could hear her clock ticking. That quiet the place was. And abruptly, a cloth pressed to her nose and mouth. She inhaled the acidic smell. Someone held her still. Ash failed to recognize the persons enmeshed her. The toxicity of the smell deepened through her lungs. She fainted.

"Taanz… you are of no use…" Shar derided Taani.

"She's my sister. You really can't expect me to be a part of it." Taani stood helpless.
