“Hey baby! Sorry it took so long!” Chad’s loud voice boomed in my ear. Turning around I smiled feeling gracious to have him for myself again/

“It’s fine!” I called over the music.

Mercy by Kanye West boomed through the house. The stereo in this house was off the charts. The whole home bounced along with the beat. The music was so loud I was surprised the cops haven’t come to calm the party down.

Chad popped his eyes singing, “swerve” every time it played in the song. Giggling I took his hands and swayed back and forth.

Stopping his singing Chad held my hands tighter and nodded his head, motioning for me to follow him. We weaved between the over populated house making our way to the kitchen.

“You get yourself a drink I’ll be right back. Don’t move okay? We don’t need you running off like last night.” Chad winked and headed out the back door.

I felt a pinch of sadness being left alone for the second time. Shutting my eyes, I took a deep breath and reopened. Chad’s friend who was wearing the hat stood in front of me..

Great we all know where this is going. I chuckled to myself.

“I’m Tyler,” the boy said reaching his hand out.

“Aubrey,” I accepted the shake.

Tyler smiled, “Chad’s a good guy you know that right?”

Why would he be asking him this? I prayed my confusion didn’t appear on my face and I nodded in agreement. I really didn’t need more of his friends to dislike me.

Accepting my nod as an answer Tyler smiled a little and walked away. “Have fun tonight!” he called over his shoulder.

I needed a drink. Fast. I scanned the counter top for my favorite, rum and coke. I found the rum but the coke wasn’t present. Feeling slightly aggravated I just settled on a Dr. Pepper I randomly found sitting in the corner of the counter top.

I stood in the corner of the kitchen drinking my pop. The party was at its climax. Kids were doing body shots on the table.Girls in skimpy tops took turns as boys licked their stomachs. It was fairly obvious the drink wasn't the only thing they were licking for joy. Numerous couples had wandered upstairs and a joint was being passed around in the family room. The little home was packed as at least 300 people made their way through rooms. Music still blasted from the stereo causing everything and every body to be in motion. I looked down in my drink and watched the liquid vibrated along to the beat of the song playing. I smirked.

“Hey do you know where Mallory and Chad went?” my heart stopped as the words found their path into my ears. I looked up and saw Allison.

“No.” I replied and stalked off the find them. I looked all over the house. My heart picked up its pace as I looked around frantically for the two. I was scared. My heart felt broken and hurt. My head told me to calm down and that’d it be okay. My heart obviously had it’s own opinion.

Failing to find them anywhere in the dwelling I made my way to the backdoor. Just before I opened it I saw them in the yard. Chad had a flash of anger cross his face and Mallory appeared to be yelling at him.

As quietly as I could be I slowly opened the door and climbed out of the house. I crept slightly closer. I was still concealed by the dark.

“You don’t understand Mallory!” Chad’s voice yelled.

Shooting back to him she yelled, “What is there to understand? She’s afraid of you!”

Her voice had extra emphasize on afraid. I was kind of glad she told him even though I should be mad.

“She’ll think less of me” I barely heard the words from Chad.

“How much less of you could she think? You already scare the shit out of her and the fact that you’re a fucking player doesn’t help you either,” Mallory dramatically pointed her finger into his chest.

Chad’s face light up like a fuse, “Don’t fucking touch me Mallory! Goddamn. You know better!”

“Chad I’m sorry just calm down,” Mallory hushed to him.

Chad aggressively grabbed her wrist and I could tell it frightened her. “Don’t tell me to calm down. I can handle this on my own.”

That raspy voice sent a series of chills down my spine. Chad forcefully dropped her forearms and sprinted off.

I kept my eyes on Mallory. She ran a dainty hand through her long blonde hair sighing. Her face was flustered with frustration and I knew she cared about Chad. She just was trying to help him out.

Snapping out of Mallory I turned my thoughts to Chad. I slowly walked back inside and tried to find him. I walked back over to my spot in the kitchen but a hug from behind startled me. The delightful smell of Chad’s cologne danced into my nose and I smiled. I was thankful to be with him again.

“Miss me?” Chad’s raspy voice whispered into my ear. His breath was cool and I shivered as it raced against my skin. Chad had wrapped his arms around my waist and laid his head down on the crevice between my neck and shoulder. Chad slowly rocked our bodies and I closed my eyes never wanting this to end.

“Hey Aubrey I’m going to go get my keys and a jacket for you out of my car then we will leave okay?” Chad broke the moment.

A small smile lay on my face and I mouthed thank you toward him as he ran off. As I walked Chad’s curls bounce when her ran my attention got redirected to the left of the room. My heart did a 360o and fear took over my body. Brennan stood in the corner with a group of friends. His stare was too occupied on Chad to notice me though.

Brennan nodded to his friends and the walked off in the same direction as Chad had.

Fear had taken over my body and I couldn’t move. I was frozen. My head screamed at my body to move, to go get Chad, but I couldn’t get my body to move
