Colton placed his hands on my hips and swayed me along to the music. I’m glad we were able to push past things and become friends. He was so fun.
“ Why the fuck you touching my girl?” Chad’s voice boomed, breaking my trance.
Colton goofily chuckled toward Chad, “Calm yourself. We are dancing.”
He hadn’t even bothered to step away from me. Colton steadily kept his hands on my waist.
The comment only pissed Chad off. Thinking dumbly, Chad aggressively grabbed my wrist and pulled me off of Colton. My body slammed into his chest hard.
“No! Don’t tell me to fucking calm down, man! You can’t fucking touch my girl. You hear me?”
By this point, someone had turned the music off. All eyes were on Chad, Colton and I. Part of me was afraid of what would happen. If Chad and Colton fought…who knows what would conclude from it.
“Chad. It’s okay. Jealously just reminds you how much you care for someone,” Colton winked.
Drunk Colton really didn’t know where to stop. This wasn’t going to go over well.
Chad stepped forward closing space between him and Colton. I had been pushed to the side.
“Chad calm down. Please. Baby stop.” Whenever I called him baby I caught his attention.
Not even a glance was taken in my direction this time. He was raging with anger by now.
Colton placed his hands up to prevent Chad from coming closer. “Whoa man. I didn’t mean to piss you off this much. I’m not looking for a fight.”
“You shut the fuck up, prick.” Chad snarled.
I unwillingly glanced to the others. Cara had a horrified look on her face along with Taylor. Dalia cautiously clung onto Carter. They looked just as scared as I probably did.
I was not only scared for Colton but for me too. I knew my friends would lose all respect for Chad after this. My dreams of becoming a large group of friends had been crushed.
“Watch it. I’ll pound your ass,” Colton bantered back.
Chad laughed nastily, “Oh really?”
Chad’s dominant hand rose behind him, like his was loading to fire.
Oh, shoot. Chad was going to punch Colton. I had .02 seconds to decide what I should do next. Without clearly thinking, I jumped between Colton and Chad.
“Aubrey, no!” Cara’s voice called.
It was too late though. Chad’s fist collided into me. Pain. I was brought into a deep pain.
I lost all my balance and fell backwards. Luckily, someone had caught me before I hit the ground. My whole left side of my face burned, hot and red. Sharp. Pain.
Shouting had bantered around me but I failed to make out specific voices or words. The ceiling started to spin as someone moved my body. I was placed down on a softer surface, maybe the couch?
Yelling still played around me. I tried to block all the noise out though. My head began to pound to a steady rhythm. Did Chad really hit me this hard? No, did Chad really hit me?
My mind couldn’t focus anymore. I felt myself go in and out of consciousness.
“Aubrey can you hear me?” A voice called to me before everything turned into blackness.
~~~Chad’s P.O.V.~~~
I could feel all the color in my face disappear. My mind was racing. I didn’t know how to process what I just did. I’d just punched my girlfriend right in the face. I hated myself.
