Draco strutted down the hall, coming back from football practice. As he made his way to his locker, he noticed a curly-haired brunette with rounded, silver-rimmed glasses and cheeks sprinkled with freckles. Draco grinned, making his way over to the short boy.

As he approached, he noticed the smaller was listening to music through his earbuds, sat against the wall. What is he doing here? Draco wondered. I know he doesn't stay after for anything, I've seen the rosters... He pondered this as he approached, smirking as he got closer.

"Whatcha listenin' to, Potter?"
Was what Harry heard as he suddenly felt his AirPod being pulled out of his ear, looking up to be met by a grinning blonde-haired boy, plucking the earbud from Harry's ear.

"Malfoy- ugh- give it back!" He exclaimed, grunting as he tried it reach for it back. But, Draco, being the dick he was, was of course using Harry's height against him and holding it far higher than Harry could reach. Harry finally gave up, arm slumping at his side, wearing a defeated look.

"Aw, don't look so blue Potter, I just want to know what you're listenin' to!" Draco remarked, flashing a charming smile and sending a wink that admittedly made Harry's cheeks warm a bit.

Harry had always been the quiet one, the one who kept to himself, the one who didn't have very many friends. He did have that Weasley kid and Granger, but Granger had gone to college a year early, being the genius and prodigy that she was. And Weasley had moved away before the year started, because his dad had apparently gotten a job offer somewhere else. So, now Harry really kept to himself, and was usually seen in his oversized sweatshirt, ripped jeans, and beanie, listening to music by himself.

Draco, on the other hand, had always been the rich kid, the jock, and one of the most popular kids in the school. He and Pansy had been Junior prom king and queen, but ironically, because they were both gay. Pansy had been dating Hermione, and was heartbroken when she had to leave for college. It seemed they had been trying, so far successfully, to do long-distance, but he could tell she was struggling.
While Draco was popular and a jock, he had also been top of his class the past however many years. Well, top of his class behind Harry, of course. Draco actually very much liked this aspect, it meant that he had practically every class with the shy boy.

Draco enjoyed teasing Harry. It wasn't mean-spirited in any way, it sometimes even went to flirting, like when he threw in that wink. He just enjoyed teasing the boy, helpful factors being: Harry was much shorter than him; he became easily flustered; he was shy so he didn't talk to many people, Draco was one of the few; and he was really cute.

And when the defeated look made it's way onto Harry's face as he gave up trying to reach his earbud, Draco couldn't help but smile out of pity.

"Aw Potter, don't pout, I just wanna know what you're listening to." Draco said again, tilting Harry's chin up to look at him, smiling to make sure he knew he wasn't being mean. He clicked the earbud, genuinely curious as to what Harry Potter was listening to.

"Devil town is colder is the summer time
"I'll lose my mind at least another thouuusand times
"Hold my hand tight, we'll make it another night
"I still get a little scared of something new
"But I feel a little safer when I'm with you
"Falling doesn't feel so bad when I know you've fallen this way too"
