Bad Decisions & Consequences

-⁛-

Percy POV

When I walked into the school the next morning, I could tell a lot of people were staring at me. I didn't care though, I had gotten used to it.

A bunch of girls asked me if I was okay, and of course I said yes.

My friends were watching me closely, they wouldn't stop staring at me and whispering things about me.

Finally, they walked up to me, and Jason asked, "Hey Bro, how are you doing?"

"Fine," I answered.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yes," I said.

He looked at Annabeth and Piper, "Okay, how about we meet afterschool at Wendy's? We can have some food."

They looked so concerned.

I hated people pitying me.

I forced a smile on my face. "Yes! Of course! Let's do it!"

They relaxed and Grover said, "Great, man!"

"See you later!" Leo said, running away to find Calypso.

"How about dinner there? I have swim..." I faltered, my smile fading. I was thinking about how I couldn't swim.

"You okay?" Grover asked.

I forced the smile back on my face. "Yeah, of course! Now, let's get to class before I get into trouble."

"Mr. Perfect." I heard Frank mutter. "I'll see you in swim?"

"Yeah, of course," I said.

I waved goodbye and walked away. As I did, my smile left with me.

I didn't feel like smiling. I didn't even feel like being happy anymore.

But I had to. No one could know what was wrong.

I had to ask my mom if I could go.

I called her, and put on my smile and cheerful voice again.

"Hey mom!" I said cheerfully.

My mom sounded relieved when she replied, "Hi Percy. You sound happy."

Of course I did. I had to. Or everyone would think something was wrong.

"Yeah! Can I go to Wendy's after school for dinner? The whole group is going," I said.

"Of course! I'm happy to see you talking to your friends again."

"Yeah," I said. "Well, bye! I gotta get to class!"

I could hear her smiling from the other side of the phone. "Bye Percy."

And then we both hung up.

I fumbled through today's classes, not wanting to pay attention. I honestly didn't care anymore.

What was the point anyways?

I would probably die soon anyways.

Might as well give up now.

I walked into the swimming place, which was just beside the drama room.

"You're late!" Coach Hedge yelled.
