Chapter 19: Escape

Ninjago City/Yugataro's POV:

I sit in my cage waiting for Nelson and Mullo to arrive. The guards have stopped trying to trying to get the boy away from me. I guess they figured that it was for the best. Better to have me calm then angry. Plus it saves them from even more trouble when Nelson gives me food instead of them.

He's been doing this for the past couple days. But today's my execution, and I don't want the kid to be here when they send me to the Departed Realm.

A couple minutes later, I see the boy crossing the street at the intersection. He rushes over and goes under the fence's bars. I smile gently upon seeing the young boy.

"Hey Cole! I brought dumplings just like I promised." Nelson opens his pack, taking out several small containers and plastic utensils. "I even brought some chocolate cake for dessert. Your favorite."

I chuckle sweetly at the boy's kindness as he makes my plate. Nelson hands me my dish and I thank him. Mullo squeaks happily at me, jumping onto the floor of my cage. I gently stroke the small rodent's head with my finger.

"So anything new to report?" I ask Nelson while eating one of the dumplings him gave me.

As he munched his food, his face turned from one in deep thought into one of worry. He looks hesitant before turning his head away from me. Even Mullo seemed distant.

"What's the matter kid? Something wrong?" I ask him, after taking a sip of water from the bottle he gave me.

Before answering me, he sighs. "I don't want to talk about it. You might get upset."

I look at the boy suspiciously and then smirk. "Try me." Is all I say before eating another dumpling.

Nelson looks into my eyes and exhales sadly. "Tabitha's run away from the monastery. She came to my house to tell you how the ninja made her wear vengestone cuffs and kept her locked in her room. She's gone crazy and only managed to get the key to her cuffs after attacking her mom. I'm scared for her."

I stare at the boy in shock, dropping my plate. Mullo fearfully jumps back and onto Nelson's shoulder. I quickly then begin to look to for a way to escape my cage. Frustratingly grunting as I try to use my powers.

"Nelson I need to get out of here! She needs me!" I yell frantically as I pull hard on the bars. "PLEASE!" Looking at him with my pleading eyes, Nelson could only stare back with fear and sadness.

"HEY QUIET YOU!" A voice from behind the boy shouts commandingly. I glance behind him to see the elemental masters coming over to my cage with vengestone chains. Plus Skylor and a couple Shintaro guards.

"We're here to take you to your execution." Skylor exclaims with a sly smirk. "So don't you try anything sneaky, got it!"

I take a frightened step backwards, but then stop. My thoughts darken, and so do my eyes. Grinning sadistically at my enemies and I begin to chuckle. That chuckle then turns into full on maniacal laugh in a matter of seconds.

"Oh you fools still haven't learned your lesson have you?" My echoey voice asks them. Nelson slowly stands back up and bumps into the fence behind him.

A Shintaro guard reaches into their pocket and takes out a key. Most likely the one to my cage, no doubt about that. He walks over to my cage, passed the fence and to the door on the side. I hear the locks unlock and see the door open.

The guard is buff and tall, but not as tall as me. In his hands were the vengestone chains. Aiming at my legs, he takes his shot. However my tail catches it just in time. The guard gasps in fear and I grin evilly at this, exposing my sharp canines.
