Chapter 21: Cures For Curses

Before/Tabitha's POV:

After I had escaped from house arrest, I headed straight for Nelson's house. Upon entering the house unsuspectingly, I hurry to Nelson's room, carefully opening the door to his room. The door had his name on it so I didn't have to worry about walking in the wrong room.

Silently closing the door, I creep up to his bed. A small squeak makes me jolt, and I turn to see Mullo in a glass cage next to Nelson's bed. He looks very glad to see me again. I open the top and take out the small rodent. He hops onto my shoulder and nuzzles my neck affectionately.

"Aww, I missed you too, buddy." I whisper quietly. "But I can't stay here for long, I need to tell Nelson something."

I look at the sleeping boy and sit beside him. Gently shaking his shoulder, Nelson wakes up with a yawn. He looks at me and gasps. I quickly cover his mouth, a tell him to be quiet. He nods his head and I slowly lower my hands.

"Tabitha, what are you doing here?" The boy asks me in a small whisper. "You're supposed to be at the monastery. Wait a minute. The ninja said that you lost your mind and were keeping you on house arrest. Is that true?"

I shake my head. "Of course not; I'm crazy, but I'm not going murder crazy." I say with a small laugh. He chuckles softly. "Yet, the thing is... I had to sort of attack my mom to get the key the my chains and door. She's okay though."

I notice Nelson's worried look and assure him that my mother was fine and that I'm not insane. With a sigh, I began to tell him about how they've been treating me. The chains, the bars on my window, how they have to escort me out of my room when I need to either shower or doing anything in the bathroom.

"I just left the monastery about an hour ago." I admit to the boy. "I only came here to tell you that I'm leaving."

"What!" He gasps loudly, but quickly covers his mouth. "Why are you leaving? I surely thought that you would help Cole escape once you got out." He whispers.

Upon hearing Cole's name, small tears form in my eyes. "I would like to, but everyone would turn against me. Plus I won't be gone for long. I just need to find out more about the ring Cole gave me." From my ninja gi belt pouch, I take out the ring. "When Yugataro was holding me hostage — before he regained some of his memories — I had a dream.

"In the dream, Cole — not Yugataro — told me of how he got the Aurora Green. It was after he defeated the Skull Sorcerer. He found the diamond in the area where he smashed the skull, and decided to take it with him." I explain, giving the ring to the boy so he can look at it. "When we returned home, I decided to go on a trip to the Caves of Despair, — to mine a diamond and make a ring for him.

"While I was gone, Cole was going through some changes already. He wasn't eating as much, he began to look paler, he lost some of his strength, and he even started acting strange."

Nelson looks up from the jewel at me. "How strange?" He asks.

"Well, he told me that one time when they were training, he easily trapped the others in stone cages that they couldn't escape from. And he was about to break Kai's arm, until Master Wu luckily stopped him. After freeing everyone; Cole's eyes flashed red and he began growling at them. But when his eyes stopped glowing, he didn't remember anything that has happened, so he ran to his room.

"Once in his room he started to hear voices telling him that he was cursed, and that his transformation will begin. After that he transformed into Yugataro." I tell the boy. "My theory is the demon that was once controlling Cole, is actually the skull that the Skull Sorcerer used. When he was destroyed, all of his powers were transferred into the diamond."
