My eyes were wide. Hot tears started to flow down my face. I was frozen in place unable to move, unable to run away from this mess.
"S-SHE'S A WITCH!" Jake yelled out to everyone.
"SHUT UP!" I yelled back. There was no point in hiding my powers anymore, and with the new spark of strength in my powers, I managed to pick Jake up a few inches in the air. Although it wasn't very high, I could see nervousness written on every inch of his face. He was squirming to get out of my grasp.
I dropped him without saying anything. I was no longer frozen in place, every part of me now iched to move, to run, to get out of here, and I did. I ran as fast as my legs could take me. Running home wasn't the best of ideas, but I was hoping mom would be home so I could warn her.
When I burst through the front door, nobody was home. A note on the counter read that she and Derek had gone on a date night and would be back later in the night. I quickly took my phone out of my back pocket, grateful that I hadn't left it in my backpack, which I had left at school.
"Mom I really messed up," I texted, hoping that she'll see it, "Everyone knows now and it's best if we don't come back to the house, the police are most likely going to be here soon. I'm going to leave my phone here so they can't track me. I love you mom, and I'm sorry for leaving you."
A tear rolled down my face as I hit the send button. I ran upstairs, grabbed a spare duffle bag, and stuffed random but warm articles of clothing. I then raced to the kitchen and added random snacks, fruits, and drinks to the bag. I then bolted to the front door when I saw the picture mom and I took a few years ago. It made me sad to think that I would never see her again. I took the photo and stuffed that in the duffle bag as well. Then I ran out the door, never to return to this house again.

I tried to lay low in the shadows of the city. I would have gone to the Under Sea, maybe look for help. But I couldn't breathe underwater. There must be some spell for that, but I didn't know it. So the only thing I could do was hide amongst the humans again, now trying to be as stealthy as I possibly could be.
I managed to make it the rest of the night in the chilling cold. Wrapping myself in layers of clothes to keep warm.
I couldn't sleep that night, my mind was so messed up. I worried for my mother, although not biological, she was my mom and she was going to have to pay the price for the world discovering that I am indeed a witch. She was going to die if she was caught by the police.
My mind froze at that thought, all because of my stupid mistakes, the person who had loved me and raised me was going to die, and brutally under the hands of the government. I cried so much during the night, my tears freezing to my face.

In the morning I drank the little bit of water that didn't freeze overnight and ate a banana that I had packed. It was already a bit smooshed so I had to eat it now before it ruined the clothes inside.
I was packing anything I had taken out, back into the duffle bag, removing some of the extra clothing that I had put on during the night, and stuffing those into the bag as well. It was still cold outside, but I would be walking, so I would warm up eventually.
I heard steps from the street behind me. I didn't necessarily consider it as a threat, the city was waking up and soon the streets would be crowded.
"I found her," a man's voice said from behind me, making my blood run cold, "She's in an ally on the west side of Bardia Street."
The radio that the officer behind me was most likely holding, staticked.
"Good job Officer Brown, now make sure she stays there."
