RUM CAY
Callie walked in the Cameron's house and got upstairs, not seeing anyone, which was good because she figured Ward wouldn't really appreciate having her in his house anymore.
She knocked on Rafe's door but she heard no answer so she banged again and got in. She saw his shirtless figure, as he looked up from his desk to her, white powder on his nose and the desk. Of course, he was still himself. His first reflex was wiping the powder off his nose and getting up. "Cal?"
"Rafe," she voiced.
"What are you doing here?" he asked her, walking to her but she closed the door behind her and stepped back a little.
"Why did you do that? why did you kill her?!" she asked, extremely sad and angry, not knowing how to deal with these feelings.
"Wow calm down, I just did it for my dad. She was going to kill him so I protected him"
She laughed nervously and bit her lip, not believing a single word of his. There had to be something else, but she didn't know what and it's what drove her insane. "Don't lie to me, there's something else. I was there, and I saw she wasn't about to kill him," she drawled.
"Yes she was!" he yelled at her.
"She was arresting him because he's a murderer okay? That's her job Rafe!" she contradicted, and he stayed silent. "Is it also why you told the cops John B killed her?" she went ahead, tears coming back in her eyes. "He didn't do a shit and you know it, alright?"
"Look, I know you're mad," he spoke with his very hot and rough voice, still walking to her so she kept stepping back until her back hit against the door. "But it was my only option. He was the only person we could frame for the murder, he was there"
"I was there too," she slyly replied. "Go ahead, tell the cops I did it"
"You think I'd ever frame you for something I did? look even if you were the murderer, I'd take the blame," he reassured protectively.
"Oh but when you actually are the murderer you forget about responsibilities? what if John B is sent prison by your fault?" she asked, sobs stuck in her throat causing her voice to shake but she didn't want to cry, not now.
"Well would you rather have me or him in jail?" he asked, this time so close she could feel his breathing on her face. He stroked her arm up and down slowly, from her hand to her shoulder.
"I.." she didn't know, and she didn't feel like she had to choose, because it was truly not her place. "I'm not choosing"
"Fuck," he got away from her and walked around the room to calm his anger. "Don't hurt her, don't hurt her," he mumbled at himself, his hands behind his head.
"I- I'd choose you, okay? no matter the situation baby, I'd choose you and only you, even over my own family," he said as he walked to her and pinned her against the wall so that she couldn't escape him. "Do you even love me?" he asked.
"Rafe, you know I love you it's not about that," she spoke, looking down but he raised up her chin with his fingers.
"Then what is it about?" his voice spoke.
"I'm scared," she spoke and he wiped a tear off her cheek. "Because no matter how it ends, I'll loose someone I love"
He nodded and kissed her forehead a few times, rubbing her head very softly and slowly. "But I hate that I can't picture my life away from you, Rafe please don't give up on me"
He kept rubbing her head softly as he pulled her against his naked chest and hugged her tight. She hugged him back and listened to his heartbeat as if it was keeping her safe.
"I'll never give up on you. I'll never hurt you," he whispered to reassure her and she hugged him even tighter.
"How are we gonna do?" she asked.
"Well," he pulled away from her and took her hand onto his so she followed him and climbed on the bed with him. "You didn't forget about our plan right?"
"What plan?"
"Rum Cay, thrilling surf, vivid coral reefs," he spoke, laying down causing her to lay down with him. She shook her head and looked at the ceiling.
"Sometimes I wish we could go there," she said as he kissed her cheek and down her neck, his lips lingering on her skin.
"Why wish? why couldn't we?" he asked, in between the kisses, sucking harder on her neck.
"It's just no that simple," she said, as he kept his lips on her skin. "Rafe I'm worried about you, because killing someone isn't a common thing. What's going on in that head of yours?"
"I'm fine, don't worry"
"But I do worry about your mental health, and stop," she pushed his face away from her neck a little. "It's distracting"
"What's wrong with being distracted?" he faked being hurt by her words.
"I can't think straight, and our lives are a mess so I need to figure things out"
"For once, don't overthink and let me take care of you," he said, kissing her cheek.
She rolled eyes and smiled. "Should I really trust you? after what you did today?"
"Come on! I said I'd never hurt you, have I ever-" she cut him off by slamming her lips against his and kissing him passionately.
She pulled away from kissing and ran her thumb along his bottom lip. "Go ahead Cameron, let's at least end this day a good way"
He smirked and they both knew where this was going. Because she needed to forget, or at least pretend everything was fine, and he wanted someone to numb his pain. They were both who the other one needed, and maybe it seemed toxic but they didn't realise it.
Her phone kept ringing the entire time, but he didn't let her take the call, because after what they had been through the whole day, it couldn't be a bigger deal.

They both woke up the next day, anxious. They had released their anxiety all night but right now, they had nothing else to think about than how much of a mess their lives were.
He kissed her head and hugged her very tight against him, her burning skin against his. "Wanna have breakfast together?"
"I wish I could, but John B needs me, and the cops are probably gonna question me as fast as I get home"
He sighed and handed her her clothes so she could cover up her body. "Would 10 minutes more with me be so dramatic?"
"I guess it wouldn't," she giggled and kissed his cheek once she was all dressed up. He walked downstairs, telling her to join him in the living-room and she finished getting prepared.
She joined him downstairs and hugged him from behind as he poured some coffee in a cup for her. She thanked him and drank a sip of it, sitting on a chair around the table.
"What are you gonna do?" she asked him and he shrugged.
"Live a normal life, my dad said I'd be fine," he just replied and her head started to pound. "You okay?" he asked as she frowned m because of the sudden pain.
"Yeah," she drank more of her coffee and the cup fell down the floor, as it became suddenly too heavy for her hand.
She felt dizzy, her vision started to blurry as she could barely see his silhouette.
"Rafe, what's going on?" she asked, her voice shaking, as she was scared and couldn't feel her body anymore.
Then everything became dark, as her eyelids became too heavy and she felt the need to close her eyes.
"Rafe, Rafe, please, Rafe," she repeated his name as if he could save her, until no sound managed to come out of her mouth.
The last thing she felt was his arms holding her and carrying her somewhere, as his last words echoed inside her head.
"I'm sorry baby, I'm so sorry but I had to"
