Now I am nowhere near romantic and romance isn't my favorite genre but I do want to practice on how to execute it properly to have the experience. So let me know if this chapter was cliche or not romantic. I hope you enjoy anyway though! Now I need sleep!~

The cotton balls in the sky seemed to be a slight pink color looking down in the overgrown forest where our two friends were walking. A nice cool breeze blows through the unforgiving heat and elderly trees. One would forget the world had demons lurking about in it. Y/n took a sip of her water container and closed the lid. "Before you said: 'you had another situation to handle', after you took me to the doctor." Tanjiro didn't know if it was impolite to ask if it was a personal matter, but took the risk. I stay quiet for a bit remembering my malicious intent. I doubt someone wants to be with a person who almost killed their guardian.

Tanjiro noticed a sudden shift in y/n emotions while she began to answer the question. "That beam of light last night had an effect on my dreams I guess." Y/n climbed up on the ledge going up a hill with Tanjiro following close behind her. "I saw something my caregiver did when I was just a baby and I got pretty upset over it." They decided to take a breather by the stream in the clearing, "y/n if it's too much to talk about then we can switch to another subject." Tanjiro placed his box somewhere in the shade and helped me take my bag off my back.

"Awe~ you're really sweet you know?" I commented taking off my shoes stepping into the water walking toward the small waterfall. "Come here, I want to show you something!" Y/n shouted, her feet leaving ripples on the clear surface of the water. The smooth stones felt cold underneath my feet while the sun was blazing above me. Tanjiro caught up with me as I led him behind the waterfall to a cave lit with lanterns. "I can't remember the last time I've been here, but I found out the crystals here can harm demons. They're the same as the wisteria trees." I gently grabbed his chin and tilted it up to look at the amethyst crystal and put it back at my side.

"How did you find this place?" Tanjiro gazed with awe, staring at the cave ceiling where the crystals reflected the dimly lit lanterns. A cool breeze rushes through the cave, "oh, I was being chased by some demons when I was 10 I think. That's how I found out these crystals were a deadly weapon." I wondered if I left anything here and followed the lanterns to an old blanket on the ground with scattered supplies. Small doodles on the walls and a few clothes were neatly placed next to a basket. "I haven't seen these in years!" I ran towards the items not seeing the water on the cave floor and in split seconds saw the golden gates to heaven but just ended up being a face full of stone my face kissed. "fuck...Where did this damn water come from?" I feel something drip on my hand and follow where it came from.

"Y/n!?" Tanjiro's voice bounced from wall to wall making the cave groan as if it was hungry. Tanjiro came around the corner painted with distress, yet he sighed relieved walking toward me. "I just slipped on some water," Y/n began to stand up when the cave floor cracked underneath her weight explaining to her this would be a great time to be skinny. 'You wouldn't...' I thought to myself frozen in place telepathically speaking to the cave as if I had the ability to do that. Tanjiro took a step back not to add more weight and got in a run position to catch me. In a split second, the floor collapsed, still able to catch us both off guard and we both bolted towards each other. Y/n reached her hand out toward Tanjiro and he did the same but the roof above them was collapsing as well.

"Second form; Sunder speed," Y/n reacted quickly activating her second form as her eyes turned a blinding white speeding toward Tanjiro embracing him into a hug. They rolled on top of each other dodging the rocks yet, fast rushing water was seeping through the cracks. We hurried and scrambled to our feet running toward the entrance in a panic. They both go to both sides of the cave as an overwhelming amount of water gushes out onto the small shallow water. It eventually came to an end and both of them began to cross the shallow water. "Holy shit...That was fun and horrifying!" I laughed, feeling adrenaline pump through each and every vein in my body, until a wave of dread came over me. "We almost died...Tanjiro are you alright?!" I looked beside me cupping his cheeks seeing he was feeling the same. "y-YEAH! I'm fine! What about you?" He finally took a deep breath and smiled, touching his forehead with mine placing his hands on top of mine. I burst into laughter nodding my head, "I've never be better!"

I pull away abruptly grabbing his hands twirling around in the water making loud splashes. A bright smile plastered my face and I pulled him close to me. "I think we don't need to go inside any more caves for a while!" Tanjiro gripped my hands tightly while I got rid of the rest of my adrenaline. After that almost fatal event, we commence on through the forest enjoying another's company. It was another day and a half to Sakonji place by foot. The backlash of the sudden adrenaline came crashing down as bitter soreness took over. My sides were especially aching, I keep forgetting I have bones and skin that need healing. "Let me fill up my container real quick." I slid off my travel pack and headed toward the stream leaving Tanjiro to his thoughts.

(Tanjiro's pov)⬇️

Tanjiro took off his box and settled it in the shade sitting beside it. "Damnit..." his face grew the brightest shade of pink, remembering what happened back at the cave. The way y/n twirled, laughed and caressed him like he was something more precious than diamonds had him in a trance. 'I know she probably doesn't see me in a romantic way, but if she hadn't smiled at me like that...maybe I wouldn't have fallen this deep.' Tanjiro couldn't get her smile out of his mind, it probably didn't mean anything but it meant everything to him. Let's be honest here, Tanjiro wasn't going to let y/n go alone only to protect her, since she clearly can take care of herself. I needed to know why my chest felt like exploding when I saw her, why she had the power to make me feel invincible, why- why I want to kiss her. Tanjiro finally figured out why when she saw her coming back holding sticks near her head pretending they were antlers. I burst into laughter witnessing y/n trip over her own feet.

"Oh no, I like her..."
