____________________________________________Another day went by and they had only a run-in with two demons in total. Tanjiro kept his lips shut about his feelings until the moment was right to tell Y/n. They both arrived at Sakonji's humble home near the mountains by the stream. I knocked on the door and watched the door fly open with Sakoni holding a bucket in his hand as his red mask shields his face from us. “I can never be free of you can I?” Sakonji slowly let out a sigh, grabbing another charcoal sword with a silver handle and handed it to me. "You already had one pre-made for me? Am I that predictable?" I tilt my head as Sakonji passes by me and greets Tanjiro. "You don't have to feel bad y/n. Mine broke in battle once before." Tanjiro placed his hand on my shoulder.
"I…well lost mine three times before-" I watched Tanjiro flutter his eyes turning toward me. I chuckled nervously, before switching the subject, "Anyway could we stay for the night and leave in the morning? Another two days from here and we'll reach our destination." Sakonji started walking toward the path of the stream, "sure, but I want to see if you've improved your power." He gestured for me to follow and I placed my items down quickly catching up with him. "Do I really have to right now? I mean I wanted to get off my feet for a bit since we were traveling a long time."
Sakonji squatted down in front of me, "duck." "Duck?" I repeated his words and heard something come from my right and ducked down seeing a massive tree log swing past us. He got up and continued walking as if nothing just happened. "W-what? Why do you have that?!" I chased after him now anxious observing my surroundings. "I forgot to take down a couple of traps I set up a few years back. I'm surprised they still work." Sakonji let out a subtle chuckle glancing back at me. "Ha ha I'm glad you found that amusing." Y/n visited Sakonji with her caregiver a few times when she was around ten and thirteen.
She didn't come to train per say just passing by. She remembered seeing one of his previous students in a yellow-green checkered kimono half maroon on the other side. He was quiet and had a dull expression most of the time. Although y/n never officially met him since he was just passing by at the time. "Are you sure you weren't too rough on one of your students?" I asked as we gathered near the stream. "No...I wasn't rough enough." Sakonji's tone sounded like he was guilty of a crime when he responded to me. Y/n didn't know about a few of Sakonji's students who didn't pass the exam. 'I'm guessing there was an accident of some sorts…' I stayed quiet not wanting to make him recollect the past any further.
I guess Sakonji will never forgive himself even when he has all the time to. Sakonji led Y/n to a cleared up area near the lake. "Strike that tree behind you," he gestured behind us as I turned around. Y/n grabs the handle of her sword pulling it out in front of her only to see the color of the sword had changed. Sakonji stood up holding the bucket and turned around wondering why he didn't hear anything break. Y/n brought the sword closer examining the pearlish white that tainted her sword. Y/n was ecstatic swinging the sword with the new color change, "I didn't know it could change color after it was already one color!" I gripped the handle and mumbled, "First form; Swix Edge."
I rushed up to the tree and sliced it from the bottom up- the tree groaned and the spot I aimed for burst the bark in with a warm light making the tree topple over. The tree smashed against the ground and I turned my attention to Sakonji. A few pastel ashes float around the bark of the tree, some floating toward Sakonji. "How was that? I think my sword packs a slice since you last saw me!" I smiled and put my sword away walking over to Sakonji. "Y/n did you create those beams of light a few days ago?" Sakonji's tone sounded serious all of a sudden as if I was in trouble. I nodded my head yes not sure if that was a good thing.
"Stay for a couple of days. I need to check something with you." That was all Sakonji told y/n and began walking back to his cabin leaving her with a puzzled expression. "Now this something- does that mean it's bad or terrible?" Y/n followed behind him still observing her surroundings for more surprises. "I need to observe how much control you have over your light." Sakonji went around a patch of leaves while my eyes were scanning the trees. "My light??!!!" I screamed falling into the hole landing in an awkward position. Sakonji turned back, peering into the hole, "you use light and heat for attacks, that is why speed was never the issue, but your power has increased since I last saw you." He offered me a hand and helped me out the hole.
The rest of the way back Sakonji didn't tell Y/n about what else he saw. For a brief moment he witnessed corruption hiding in the light when she attacked. If he was right, then y/n needs to learn how to control it before it takes over. Luckily Sakonji has time before that happens. Humans don't need someone else dangerous to watch out for. They can't afford that- especially if Muzan were to find out- no. That won't happen, it can't...not ever.
