Devyns POV

I was talking with Aunt Darlene at the moment. She agreed that Ponyboy was a jerk. I was enjoying talking with her this much lately. She's always working to support me and Two-bit. Like a female version of Darry. She was telling me about some guy at her work that she has the hots for, when there was a knock at the door.

"I'll get it." She said getting up. She walked a few steps to the door and opened it. One of the last people I expected to be at the door. Dallas Winston.

"Hello Miss Mathews, would you mind if I borrowed Devyn for a few hours?" He asked. She whispered something to him causing him to nod.

"I guess you can. Devyn honey, get some shoes on." She said smiling. I was a little confused, but also happy. I put on my converse and grabbed a jacket.

"Cmon m'lady." Dally said putting out his arm. I was trying to figure out if this was a joke or not. I let out a confused chuckle but played along with it.

"Have her home by 10." She said.

"I will Miss Mathews." Dal said. We got to his car and he opened my door.

"What in the world are you doing Dal?" I asked sitting down. He went around the car and sat down.

"Well, since Pony decided to punk out and go with some popular girl, I figured I might as well take you out." Dal said.

"Did Two-bit set you up to this?" I asked.

"Now why would you accuse me of that? Can't I do something nice?" He asked.

"You can, but it's out of character for you." I said.

"Oh cmon have I ever been mean to you?" He asked.

"Dal, you body-slammed me and about cracked my rib a week ago." I said.

"That was an accident." He said.

"Well it still happened." I said.

"Anyways, we're gonna have a 'date night.' It'll be better than going to any stupid prom with a dude." Dal said. I smiled shaking my head.

"Where do you want to eat?" He asked.

"Uh....what's that one diner we got kicked out of when I first came here?" I asked.

"The Blue Diamond?" He asked.

"Yeah yeah, that one." I said.

"We can do that. I'll see if they recognize me." He said.

"Maybe not, your hairs grown out a bit since then." I said.

"Yeah, I need to get a haircut." He said.

"Nah, I think you should let it grow out. You know like let it get a little close to shoulder length." I said.

"You think so?" He asked messing with his hair in the mirror.

"Positive." I said.

"I might. If it gets annoying I'll cut it." He said. I nodded and looked out the window. We were at the diner in a few minutes.

After we ordered our drinks and stuff, Dal started shooting straw wrappers everywhere.

"Dallas." I whispered.

"What?" He said. His New York accent really came out on that.

"Don't get us kicked out again." I said.

"What, you don't wanna have fun?" He teased.

"I do, but I wanna eat food first." I said.

"Alright, fine, we'll eat. But after we're gonna mess with people." He said.
