''Mads, where the hell are you?'' I heard Frankie shout down the phone.
It was 10:30am and my head''Mads, where the hell are you?'' I heard Frankie shout down the phone. It was 10:30am and my head was spinning. I couldn't remember much after my trip to the toilet last night, which would explain why I didn't ensure Mads made it home with us. ''For gods sake Mads, you didn't even tell us. You just went...Yes I did guess you was there but what if something had happened to you and you wasn't? It would have been like an episode from the hangover'' ...and she laughed. The drama had already been diffused. ''Coffee shop in an hour?...Yeah ok, see you there...''
From overhearing the muffled conversation, I sighed in disbelief that I had to be up and ready within the hour. A process that seemed near impossible with the marching band that were performing in my head. I thought I left half sober- clearly not. I pulled myself up from the pillow, leaving a dirty patch of makeup in my place and headed to the toilet to brush away the dry mouth that had lay dormant around my teeth since early hours of the morning.
''One sec,'' I heard from inside the bathroom as I pulled down the handle of the door.
Ugh, I sighed. It was the voice of a male.
''Who climbed into you last night,'' I asked Frankie sarcastically through my tiredness.
''Haha good one, but no-one disappointingly. Jordan crashed on the sofa,'' she replied.
The lock clicked and door opened, revealing a half-naked Jordan. He looked beautiful.
I hadn't noticed last night that the entire surface area of his neck, chest and arms were a maze of tattoos. His skin a canvas to hundreds of mesmerizing teeny pieces of artwork. The water droplets from his wet, tussled hair dropped against them, magnifying the intricate dot work beneath. As the droplets trickled further down his chest, they wove between the muscles that protruded from his abdomen, my eyes following its trail. He must have caught me gawking again under the mess of hair that coated my face as he responded to my bewildered look with a polite smile, rushing to put his top on.
''Morning. Thanks for letting me crash last night.''
He spoke quickly and nervously like he had done when we first met at the rooftop.
''Anytime!'' shouted Frankie from across the living area
''Nice place by the way- very fancy,'' he said.
''We have Mads to thank for it, she knows all the right people,'' smirked Frankie.
Jordan's eyes creased and mouth opened as if he were to inquire further. I wasn't sure what she meant by the right people, but I didn't like the sound of it, and from the look on his face, neither did he. Yet, despite his look of concern, it seemed that he also didn't want her to reveal anymore and swiftly announced his exit.
''I'll just get my things and I'll be out of here. I'll see you later though at Mike's BBQ?'' he questioned.
''We'll be there,'' answered Frankie for the both of us.
''Bye,'' I pathetically replied, still standing in front of him waiting to enter the bathroom,
our eyes still temporarily connected until I realised, he was in fact waiting to pass. I awkwardly apologised for blocking him before moving out of his way so he could grab his things. He reassuringly smiled, sensing the awkward aura that circulated around me and left through the doors. I clung onto my towel and sheepishly entered the shower, allowing the water to wash away the feeling of embarrassment that I had just experienced- again. We met Mads fourty-five minutes later in the corner coffee shop. She arrived in the same clothes from the previous night, not washed, and barely dressed.
''The state of you,'' Frankie shouted as she entered the room.
''I know, but Mike didn't seem to mind last night and this morning,'' Maddie crudely replied whilst laughing.
I cringed in embarrassment.
''Is there still nothing going on with you two?'' I asked.
''No. Same as always Ame – we're casual,'' she replied.
''And does he feel the same way?'' I asked, as she sat at the table.
''Well he did say he wouldn't mind taking things further a few months back, but you know, it is what it is.''
''And what is that?'' I questioned deeper.
''We will just see what happens. Anyway, what time is this BBQ later?' she asked.
I didn't agree with her comment 'see what happens?' I think she meant she was leading him on, but his was the same typical response we received from her regarding anything to do with commitment. She would always just brush it off and change the question.
''Jordan mentioned heading over for around one, giving us only one hour to get you back to the apartment and to sort this out'', Frankie replied, also changing the topic as she motioned her hand around Mads face.
''Best make that coffee a takeaway then because I need every minute I can get,'' Mads laughed.
''If you're already leaving, I will meet you guys back at the apartment in a bit if you don't mind,'' I replied. ''I've been dying for this cappuccino all morning and I definitely need a quick breakfast seeing as we didn't eat last night''
