The quirk was strong. It took a lot of training to get control over it. She had to work hard to get to where she could just talk to her friends without using it.

After she had gained control the League celebrated the only way they knew how. They committed arson. Well, Dabi did. Everyone else just watched from the top of a nearby building.

Y/n layed down and watched as the beautiful blue flames danced against the black night sky. She didn't pay attention to where she was laying though. Her head landed in Shigiraki's lap and this caused Toga to cheer.

"Yeaaaah! Get yo man!" She cheered. Twice wasn't far behind her cheering.

Y/n's face immediately flared red while Shigiraki yelled at them to be quiet. They can't be loud and expect to get away with arson. Y/n just hid her face in her hands to hide the embarrassment. Did they serious think that was her intention? Shigiraki was just her caretaker turned best friend.

Dabi got to them in time to see Shigiraki throw a severed hand at Toga to get her to shut up. He laughed and sat next to Spinner. Spinner opened a bottle of beer and handed it to him before leaning against him.

"Toga, leave the two lovebirds alone." Dabi said, earning his own hand attack.

"You're one to talk. Look at you and Spinner." Mags defended Y/n and Shiggy.

"What can I say, Dabi is a walking furnace." Spinner said with a shrug.

"We are literally in front of a bonfire made from a building." Shigiraki took away his excuse causing the lizard to blush.

"Did you kiss him yesterday because he's a furnace?" Toga blabbed.

    "You saw that?"

"Shut up guys. There are sirens." Y/n said, getting everyone to quieten down.

They watched as the fire fighters tried to put out the fire. Shigiraki kept his eyes on the girl in his lap though. She was absolutely fascinated by the way the flames didn't seem to stop fighting. The way her eyes glowed with the reflection of fire made him crack one of his rare smiles.

"Beautiful." He whispered, not thinking anyone could hear him. He didn't realize that Compress was right beside him though. The overly dramatic showman mocked swooning to tease his master.

They were on that rooftop long after the firefighters left. They were just enjoying being out of the bar for a while. They treated it as if it was a sleepover and they were in middle school, playing never have I ever and shit.

Y/n had Kurogiri send the Nomu when the air started to get chilly and they were all cuddled up together, using the wings to keep the cool air off of themselves. Dabi had jumped down to the dumpster to get stuff to build a much smaller fire to keep them warm. They didn't get back to the base until the sun started coming up and the day heroes were coming out.

Everyone immediately found their places to sleep. Toga took the couch, Twice in front of the door, Dabi and Spinner behind the bar where no one could see them, Magnes in one corner, Compress sleeping in the kitchen, Nomu in another corner, and finally Y/n took her normal spot beside Shigiraki in his bed.

After her quirk guardians were relieved of their duties she would fall asleep easily. Shigiraki was dead to the world in seconds. However, Y/n was finding it hard to fall asleep today.

    "Get yo man!"

Why did that phrase make her blush like it did? Sure she would tease Shigiraki a lot, but so did everyone else. It's what friends do.

Then she thought about everything  he has done to see how she felt. Every playful shove he would make when she was beating him in the game. Every smile he would make at her jokes. Every time he said he would never get tired of her cooking. All those times he would tell Dabi to show him how to do hair and use her to practice while Dabi used Toga to teach.

She thought about how he was there every time she thought she would never get a hold on her quirk. He would hold her and remind her that it takes time to gain control over your powers. Then he would stay up late on those nights so she could have some extra practice trying to tell him to do things without her power.

She remembered the days when he was nothing but her caretaker. She remembered how even then he would comfort her when she needed it. She remembered how upset he had gotten when he thought she had replaced him. Then how even though it was the middle of the night he came to her when she was upset. Then she remembered something she told him then and realized that it still applied now.

"I don't think I'm ever going to be able to accept another caretaker at this point." She whispered, looking over at the sleeping man next to her.

The only difference between then and now is that caretaker has taken on a new meaning. Now her caretaker isn't someone who is just there to take care of her while she's hurt.

"I didn't realize it until now but you've never stopped taking care of me. Only it's not the wound on my side anymore. You take care of me just by being there when I need you." She smiled as she thought about every subtle move he made to reassure her when things were going south in her training. She felt herself blush at the memories of the times he would hold her hand when they left the hideout so she wouldn't wander off. "I really am never going to be able to accept another caretaker. Not when I've fallen for the one I have now."
