Part XIII: What Friends Do

According to Touya, you'd been out for a couple of days. It came as a shock, but explained why your muscles hadn't ached from overusing your quirk; they'd had plenty of time to rest. While you were out, Touya had taken the liberty of caring for you. It was a sweet gesture, you thought, but the knowledge that he'd changed your clothes left you feeling flustered. You did try to voice your embarrassment to your friend, but he simply waved it off.

"You'd've done the same for me." He reasoned.

Thanks to your quick thinking, the burns you received from the car fire were minor, and, though they still caused some discomfort, were already starting to heal nicely. Your bloodstream, on the other hand, had been filled with venom. Turned out, the only reason Touya had taken you with him in the first place was that you'd been bitten by that nomu, and, without the antivenom he had on-hand, it could have proved fatal.

"Honestly, it's probably a good thing that you passed out the way you did. All that moving around would've just killed you faster." Touya noted.

Apparently, the bite wound was doing much better. When he unwrapped it, he commented on how it was no longer "oozing puss", which, despite how gross it sounded, must be a good thing.

"It wasn't my intention to just straight-up kidnap you like that. Truthfully, I was content to just let sleeping dogs lie and treat you as I would any of the other heroes, but..." He paused in his explanation, but continued redressing your leg. You raised an eyebrow curiously.

"But...?" You pried, feeling a little downhearted at his comment.

"I don't know." He stated in a monotone voice. "I guess I just didn't wanna see you dead." He admitted somewhat reluctantly.

He moved on to your wrist, pulling at the bandages delicately. You winced as he reached the final layer. The white cottony linen stuck to and pulled at the blistered skin underneath. A hiss of air came from your mouth as you sucked in through gritted teeth. Once your wrist was free, you were able to see the extent of the damage. The skin that was left was discolored- a few shades darker than the surrounding area. As you turned your arm for a better look, you noted the scar was traced in the shape of a hand gripping you. The space where your watch had once been looked to be slightly less damaged but was still quite mangled.

"Sorry about that." Touya said. He must've noticed you staring. "I didn't know how to get that stupid thing off. Figured melting it would do the trick." You continued to gawk in awe at your burnt wrist, but it wasn't your new scar that had left you so speechless.

"I... had that thing on for six years." You mumbled. It was beginning to sink in. You started to chuckle softly, twisting your arm a little faster as the truth hit you. You weren't being tracked.

"Oh-ho my God! Stiller must be freaking out right now!" You laughed borderline hysterically. Touya smiled, but his eyes were concerned. You went on before he could comment: "Ha! Woah, wait, how did you know about the tracking device?"

"Oh, uh, I didn't. I just figured if you were coming with me, I wasn't taking any chances on electronics." He said, reaching into his pocket. "Shut this off too." He held your phone up to your face. You took it from his hands and pressed the power button.

"I don't think he can track it if I keep the location off." The screen lit up as it booted up. You squinted at the bright light as it illuminated your face. Touya was quiet for a few moments before speaking up.

"Who's Stiller?" He asked, breaking the silence. You looked up at him briefly before returning your attention to your phone.

"Hm? Oh, he's my guardian." You explained simply. Touya furrowed his brows.
