CHAPTER TWELVE
MASTER MANIPULATOR

"Let go of me." Thea said firmly as she fought around in Liam's grasp furiously. "You fucking asshole!"

"Thea, listen to me." Liam said, his nails digging into her skin as he tried to not let her escape his hold on her.

"Fuck you!" Thea spat and swung her arm upwards, catching Liam in the chin with her elbow.

She turned on Stiles then and reared her arm back again and punched him in the face, feeling satisfied when she heard him groaning in pain as he covered his reddening cheek with his hand. Thea couldn't do much more when Liam grabbed hold of her arms again, looking like he would cry in frustration if she wouldn't listen to him.

"Just listen to me." Liam repeated desperately and Thea raised an eyebrow at him, indicating that she'd allow him to try and explain what the hell he thought he was doing following her and Nolan. "I'm sorry. We didn't realise what you were doing... and I know that doesn't excuse it—"

"You're right." Thea said sharply, placing her hands on Liam's chest and shoving him away from her. "It doesn't matter that you're sorry. What the fuck did you think you were doing? Following me again. I thought we were over that."

"Stiles said—" Liam was waving his hand in the human's direction angrily.

"Oh, Stiles said." Thea parroted with a sneer. "I didn't realise that you automatically did whatever Stiles said. You're your own person Liam, you're allowed to say no, you know? You're a werewolf not their fucking slave."

"Don't take it out on him, this is all my fault." Stiles argued moving to stand next to Liam who was beginning to look like a kicked puppy. "How were we meant to know you were seeing a therapist? It's not like you tell us anything."

If Thea wasn't shoving all her feelings back beneath her mask, she would have felt something from the way the beta was looking at her pleadingly, but she didn't.

"Of course it was your fault." Thea scowled. "Always been too curious for your own good, and not caring who you hurt. I shouldn't be surprised really. You've been like this since I first met you, when we were kids. Besides, it's not like you've exactly gave me a reason to tell you something like that. But that's all besides the point... where the fuck do you get off on following me here? You could have asked me about it. I wouldn't have answered but that's because it's not any of your fucking business, Stiles!"

"I'm trying to trust you again, Dora!" Stiles said angrily, pushing her backwards to where Liam had her pinned against Nolan's car. "For Liam. Not for you. Because he seems to think that you deserve it. But it's kind of hard to do that when you're sneaking around and keeping secrets."

"And you deserve to know my secrets?" Thea raised an eyebrow tauntingly at the human who was blocking her in. "Because that'll make us the best of friends again?"

"You don't deserve to have secrets!" Stiles shouted into the silent street and Thea froze as a dangerous idea came to her when she registered Stiles' words. "Not after everything that you did to us and all the things that we probably don't know about yet. But I'm trying so you need to meet me halfway."
