"Break up with them." That's the common line you would hear from your friends, family and/or even stranger if the person who claims to love you hurts you. Scarlett knows that, she's not dumb but it's so much easier said than done. Specially, when that person who hurts her was the one she pictured spending the rest of her life with.
Scarlett stood in front of her closet holding the small box that she kept safe all these months. She was trying to clear her mind, folding her clothes and yours but she stumble upon it instead. You've been gone again. It's been a week since that blown out fight happened and honestly it only got worst from then. You only showed you cared the first day and the second day you've been going out.
She blames Lizzie for this though, never you.
"What am I gonna do?" She whispers to herself, voice barely coherent.
She can't take it anymore, every piece of her is broken and it's all because of you. Scarlett broke down in the middle of the room, her sobs echos in the empty home that once filled with both of your laughter.
It hurts so much and it doesn't even seems that you care. Scarlett's tearful eyes glance at the picture of the both of you that was placed on the shelve.
"You know its love when it hurts" Scarlett's raspy voice ring in your ear, goosebumps easily made it's way to your skin. She has this effect on you.
You are cuddled up with your girlfriend talking about anything that the conversation could bring. You were about to leave but Scarlett's puppy dog eyes and pouted lips keeps making you stay for another 5 minutes and now 2 hours later she have convinced you to stay the night.
"Do you think we'll ever break up?" It was such an high school question but it slips out before you could even think about it. Besides, this kind of talk with Scarlett doesn't have rules to follow.
"I would like to believe that we won't." She whispers, tucking your hair on your ear before pecking your lips. "But if we did, make sure you'll come back to me. Okay?"
"I'll never leave you in the first place." You genuinely promise, smiling as you held her hand close to your heart.
"You better, I don't think my heart can survive if you decided not to stay."
"That won't ever happen. We'll always get through things together, no matter what. okay?" Scarlett nodded at your promises, heart whelming with joy.
"Let's take a picture." You said before grabbing the polaroid cam on the night stand and pointing it in both of your faces.
The both of you settled down in each other's arm waiting for the picture to clear up.
"You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen." You admired, carresing her face through the picture.
"That's strange because I think you're the most beautiful and we can't be both." Scarlett took the picture from your hands before placing hers in each side of your face.
With forehead pressed against each other, picture forgotten somewhere on the bed, Scarlett look deeply in your eyes content that she have found her home. She sigh when you pressed your lips against hers. That night is the night she knows, you'd be the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with.
Scarlett threw the box on the picture frame, shuttering it with the impact. Her face are now covered in her own tears as she clutch her stomach and chest, feeling the pain not only emotionally but also physically. Scarlett rushes to the bathroom to puke her guts out.
She's tired and lonely and all she ever wanted was for you to hold her. Is that too much to ask for? Instead, she's alone and you're with someone else.
