It'd been nice with the weekend after having such a long week. Sure, I was home for parts of it, but it was exhausting between socializing and the emotional turmoil regarding Kade.
Saturday was Bhai Dooj, the last day of Diwali celebrations, and Ravi and I exchanged gifts as was our usual tradition. I suspected mum marketed it to us as a bigger deal than it was, mostly to get her two rambunctious sons to spend time together and give each other gifts, but it'd grown into a special thing that I treasured deeply. Ravi and I would usually go out for a meal by ourselves, and there was always a present each involved.
This year is specifically requested an Italian restaurant downtown where I gifted my brother a necklace he'd been eyeing for some time now. The thick silver-plated chain had handcuff clasps on both ends which acted as locks for the necklace, and it had the brand engraved on the cuffs.
Ravi was delighted and forced me to take photos of him modeling it for Instagram. I was a bit confused when he said he didn't bring his gift to the restaurant but found out it was for the better once we got home.
"So this...", he begins, smiling conspiratorially, "is a special gift. And I know, I'm your brother, so I'm going to leave it on your desk and walk out. Okay?"
I survey the small velvet pouch in his hand and frown but nod regardless, laughing at his excessive winking once he exits my room. I pull on the strings at the top and peek inside, only to groan out loud.
I know we're incubi, and sex is an important part of who we are, but why the fuck does my family think it's okay to gift me toys?
Closing the bag, I put it next to the white box from the clinic, deciding to leave it there, for now, to go chew out my brother.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"A lot of things, be more specific...", he mumbles, not taking his eyes off the sketchpad in front of him.
"You can't give your little brother stuff like that!", I whisper-scream, not wanting to attract our parents' attention. I'd much prefer it if we didn't have this conversation in the living room, but Ravi was set on staying in his favorite armchair.
"Of course I can. Just did.", he smirks, "You'll thank me later."
"I'm not going to thank you later cause I'm not a bottom!"
Ravi snorts.
"You're not a top or a bottom. You're like, fourteen. Chill out, dude."
"You can't push me to do stuff like that! My sex life is mine, I don't want you interfering with it!", I argue, starting to get pissed off for real.
"Look, Kash...", Ravi starts, putting his sketch aside before leaning his elbows on his knees, "I gave you a prostate massager. You can use it if you wish, or give it to someone else. Your choice. But there's nothing wrong with exploring things, and if you're freaking out over this, there's probably some underlying issues to it."
"Shut up with your Walmart therapy! And stop giving me dirty shit!"
"Dirty? Excuse me, that is brand new!"

I'm grateful when school comes around again, if nothing else to get away from Ravi. He still hadn't apologized, and I was fuming. School helped me concertante on something else, and it gave me time to see Kade - for better or worse.
Mr. Garcia opened class by introducing a new species of the week, and this time, it was fairies. I'd always found them fascinating, with the translucent wings that merged with their skin when they weren't in use. The wings became nothing more than a large tattoo, folded over the back and reaching over the chest and the neck, sometimes even reaching the sides of the face.
