"We have to sneak you out of here now," I sighed as we stepped apart.
"I wish I could stay," he said, looking down at me with a small smirk and flipping his hair from his face.
"If James catches you-"
"I know, I know. This will be fun, being secret and sneaking around."
"Well, not secret secret. You know I'm telling Lily, right? And Remus pretty much already knows. James, though, he's oblivious as always."
"Of course Remus already knows," Sirius groaned. "He could figure anything out."
"He knew before even we knew, Sirius." I walked toward the door. "Now we have to get you out of here before James looks for either of us for dinner."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm going. Don't worry, I'll be careful. No one will know where I was." He winked as I opened it and peeked my head out. Empty. Perfect.
"Okay, you're clear. But make it quick, and don't be suspicious."
"Me? Suspicious? Never." He smiled. He kissed the top of my head and slipped out the door. I closed it behind him and put my back against the door. Sirius Black kissed me. Sirius Black, my twin brother's best friend, kissed me.
I walked over to my desk and pulled out a quill and some parchment. I wrote a short letter to Lily, promising to send more details later, and folded it up to send with our owl when I went downstairs. I stood up and walked to my door, opening it and stepping out into the hall. Remus was walking out of the guest room at the same time.
"Was that Sirius I saw coming out of your room a bit ago?" he asked as we walked down the stairs.
"Maybe," I smiled, glancing over my shoulder to make sure James wasn't in the hallway.
"Oh? Pray tell."
"Later, promise," I said, holding out my pinky. "I don't want to risk eavesdroppers."
"Alright, later, then," he said, locking his pinky in mine.
We walked down the stairs and into the dining room, where James and Sirius were already helping Mum set the table. "Mum still needs food carried in," James said to me as he set down some silverware.
"I'll help," Remus offered as I made my way into the kitchen. Mum had several platters of food on the counter, waiting to be taken into the dining room.
"Merlin, Mum, did you make enough food?" I asked, laughing.
"I wasn't sure what Remus liked, so I gave you lot some different options. Besides, James and Sirius eat so much these days, I need to make extra of everything just to keep up with their appetites."
"Oh, I'm not picky, Mrs. Potter," Remus said. "I'll eat whatever you normally make."
"Please, call me Euphemia, dear," Mum smiled softly, handing him a platter. "As a guest in our home, I want to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Anything you need, don't be afraid to ask." Mum handed me two platters and I turned to leave, leading Remus back to the dining room.
"Mum's gone overboard again," I groaned slightly, setting the platters on the table. "She's made so much food, we'll be eating leftovers all week!"
"Oh, don't be dramatic," James grinned. "Padfoot and I will have it all eaten by morning."
"I think your mother is quite lovely," Remus commented as he set down the platter in his hand. "She cares."
"Oh, Euphemia is the best," Sirius grinned. "And her cooking could rival Hogwarts' house elves any day."
"Well you enjoy anything edible put in front of you," I said, wrinkling my nose. Sirius shot me a wink from behind James' back, who was setting down the last set of silverware. I rolled my eyes playfully, a small smile tugging at my lips. I hooked my arm through Remus' dragging him back to the kitchen. "Let's get the rest of this food brought in so we can eat."
With all the food finally on the table, we sat down to eat. Dad sat at the head, Mum on his right, James and Sirius on his left, Remus and I next to Mum. I was sitting directly across from Sirius, who kept shooting me glances and winking whenever he caught my eye. I usually just rolled my eyes and went back to a conversation with Mum or Remus. James and Sirius goofed around, per usual. James threw a carrot across the table at me, causing me to throw it right back.
"Children, please, we have guests," Mum scolded, catching the carrot James had thrown once more. "Honestly, it's hard to believe the two of you are almost sixteen, when you act like toddlers at the dinner table."
"Sorry, Mum," James and I said in unison, trying to contain our laughter.
After we had finished eating, Remus and I went outside to sit in the garden. James and Sirius had wandered off, per usual. Remus looked at me expectantly. "So?" he asked. "What happened with Sirius?"
I let out a small sigh, looking at the flowers for a moment with a smile. "I was unpacking and I thought you had knocked on my door, so I put my stuff down and opened it. Sirius was standing there, looking all nervous, glancing over his shoulder every few seconds. He asked to come in, saying he needed to talk to me about something. Next thing I know, he's kissing me."
"So he finally did it then," Remus laughed. "I could tell he's been wanting to do that for quite a while, even though he never would have admitted it to me. So are you going to tell James?"
"Not yet, I don't think. We haven't really talked about it much, because James kind of almost caught us and it was all a very rushed moment."
Remus and I sat in the garden, just talking, until the sun had almost completely set. We went inside and sprawled out on the floor of Remus' room, reading. That was one of the best things about being friends with Remus. We didn't need to talk all the time. We could just read quietly and enjoy the presence of the other person. It was a nice change of pace, for both of us. Things were rarely quiet with James and Sirius around.

Hello, hello! I decided to randomly drop this chapter tonight instead of doing my homework. Honestly I've had it written and ready to go since like February but... Anyway you may also notice that I changed the title and cover for this story. There's not really a reason I just liked this title better and it made it easier to title the other books in this series. I also just felt like making a new cover for it so I did. Anyway I think this chapter is kinda boring but it's there. Maybe I'll get back to a schedule someday who knows? Certainly not me.
I hope you at least kind of enjoyed this enough to keep with me as I attempt to get through the boring average stuff and actually get to the good drama and such I have planned. Just gotta get from point a to point b. see y'all eventually! :))
