"GRYFFINDOR!"

Mirabel quickly and happily joins Harry and Ron at the table as the red and gold team welcomed her with open arms. "Mirabel you okay?" Harry asks realizing she had teary eyes. Mirabel nodded wiping them away. "I was scared he was going to say I didn't deserve to be in Hogwarts," Mirabel admits. "Blimey girl, you don't have much confidence in yourself," Ron said as he stuffed his face with chicken legs.

"You living up to some sort of legacy or something?" A red haired older boy asks. He had a badge so Mirabel assumed he was high up or something. "Not really, I just don't have much self confidence," Mirabel answers. "Hang on a moment," Mirabel looks at a pair of twins unsure which one said which. "Ain't you the girl Ms Mcgonagall is sponsoring?" One of them asks.

"Yeah?" Mirabel gives a awkward smile. Ron's brother looks up with a very judging look. "Why'd Ms Mcgonagall choose you? Must have done something special to get her attention," He said. "Ah leave her alone Percy," one of the twins said. "It's your own fault you decided to try and wow Ms Mcgonagall with some speech and pretty spells," The other said. Percy glares at his younger brothers and Mirabel looks at Ron.

"He's not mad at me is he?" She whispers. "Nah, he's just still grouchy over not getting her as a sponsor. Not like she picked anyone else that year either," Ron shrugs. Mirabel looks around and someone caught her eye, a teacher at the end of the teachers table talking two a man in a cloth covered turbine.

"Hey Ron, who's that?" Mirabel asks pointing over at the teacher. Ron shrugs, but then his brother Fred answers. "Professor Quirl, he teaches defence against the dark arts," Fred answers. "And the other teacher he's talking too?" Harry asked this question. "Professor Snape, he teaches potions, but everyone knows it's the dark arts he fancies," Percy answers this time.

"Some say he was one of 'you know who's' followers," George said with a mysterious voice. Harry's eyes widened and he looks over at Professor Snape with distrust. "Knock it off George, you know that's just a stupid rumour kids made up," Percy said sounding truly mad at his brothers. "Who do you mean?" Mirabel asks. "You know......" Ron whispers the last part. "The one who gave Harry his scar," he whispers.

Mirabel looks at Harry and Harry shows his scar hidden by his hair. "Who gave you that?" Mirabel asks and it seems like everyone near her paused and froze. Ron's mouth of food fell open, his brothers dropped their forks, Neville's eyes became saucers, Hermione rolled her eyes like Mirabel was stupid, and Harry grimaces.

"Haven't you heard the story? Everyone knows the story. Even muggle Borns have heard it," Hermione said. Mirabel gives a small shake of her head. "I don't get out much," Mirabel answers with a shy shrug. Everyone looks at each other all thinking 'who is this girl?'.

"Well, do you know who....... The dark lord is?" Ron whispers the last part. Mirabel shook her head unsure what he meant. "Ron cut it out she doesn't need to know, it's not important," Harry said cutting in on Ron. Mirabel raises a eyebrow, but ignores it in favour of looking back at that teacher. Something about that guy...... didn't feel right.

Later that evening the Gryffindor students were being lead up a corridor and Ron's brother was the one leading them. Mirabel must admit she found the sheer height of the towers overwhelming, the moving staircases felt normal to her. After all Casita tended to shift her walls and insides very often and the stair case would always find a new home nearly everyday. When others noticed how she was unsurprised about the moving staircases she heard whispering.

"She's clearly not a muggle-born,"

"Maybe Ms Mcgonagall took her on a tour before school?"
