(Last chapter was short so double chapters today)
After the first month back Gryffindor was going up against Hufflepuff in Quidditch. Everyone was nervous because Snape was referring and he had a grudge against Gryffindor winning.
"But we have a secret weapon!" Oliver said in the middle of his speech before the match. Mirabel knew it wasn't very secret, like he said, people were avoiding her like she was about to curse them and she didn't know why. She had been trying to talk to Neville, but he refused to go near her.
They got onto the quidditch pitch and the Hufflepuff team eyed her making her hide behind her thin broom stick. She just wishes people weren't so scared of her all the time, she felt so isolated, even with Harry, Ron, and Hermione she wasn't used to this, it made her feel like she was a little girl again and her door disappeared. People avoided her and whispered behind her back, it was terrible.
Luckily for her the quidditch match was really quick, the ball hadn't even landed in anyone's hands before Harry dove and caught the snitch ending the game. Instead of cheering though there was some groaning, everyone was hoping for something exciting, but Harry hadn't even done that.
Mirabel could care less, there were still two games left to play and she's happy to wait until the next game.
After she had changed out of the scarlet robes she saw Neville leaving and quickly she sprints over to him. "Neville!" Neville turns as white as a ghost and ran away from her, but Mirabel refused to let it go. She ran after him, weaving herself around students to get to him, but to her disappointment he slipped from her sight and she couldn't find him in the crowd.
Mirabel's lip trembles and she sniffs wiping her eyes. "Hey Madrigal," Mirabel looks to her side and saw Draco Malfoy grinning at her. "What do you want?" Mirabel asks. "Well your really good at potions, I was hoping you could help me with this homework assignment Professor Snape assigned me," Draco asks her.
Mirabel looks at him, it wasn't a lie she is really good at potions, but she promised to help the trio with Nicholas Fammel. Then again Draco is the first person to talk to her outside of the trio plus the twins. Besides he might not be that bad, she's had very little interaction with him outside of what Harry told her.
"Yeah sure, when do you want to meet?"
Time Skip
Mirabel arrived in the potions lab with her potion book and set it down next to Draco by the caldron. "Okay so what assignment is this?" Mirabel asks. She knew professor Snape assigned different homework to everyone to avoid cheating and she had already finishing her shrinking potion assignment last week. "It's this strength potion. I tried everything, but it's not thickening like it's supposed to and when I test it my owl keeps collapsing. I blame the bloody bird for being lazy," Draco said glaring at the said owl who looked terrified of the young boy.
"Okay first off we can't blame the bird for your mistakes, and second if you blame it again I am leaving," Mirabel said. "You can't do that!" Draco said to her. "Watch me," Mirabel turns to leave, but Draco quickly relents. "Fine," he said and Mirabel walks back in with a happy grin.
"Okay I'm gonna watch you and I'll help you when something goes wrong," Mirabel explains. "What? I thought you would do it for me," Draco complains. "You'll never learn like that silly, I promise I won't be like Snape," Mirabel said.
Draco scoffs and starts picking out the ingredients for the potion complaining loudly about having to do the work. Finally he started adding them in and at the end his potion was green instead of purple and was too think. "See! Its a stupid caldron!" Draco smacks it. "Hey calm down, let's go through your steps," Mirabel coaxes gently with a hand on his shoulder.
