Mirabel wakes up to golden sunlight shining on her skin. She moves and slowly opens her eyes looking around as she sat up.

"Good afternoon Ms Madrigal," she looks to her side and sees headmaster Dumbledore by a bed Harry was occupying.

"Harry! Are you okay? What happened?" Mirabel asks sitting up. "I'm okay me and," Harry began when Dumbledore turns to her. "My dear are you aware of what the carnation is?" He asks. "Not really I just know that he was interested in me because of it," She says.

Dumbledore sat on her bed and explained in a calm voice. "The carnation is almost a myth, they're known to be very powerful, with enough study they can become powerful beings. They are not always human, not always around either. There can be centuries in between them, they are believed to be the very essence of magic. Many have claimed this title, but it you are the first in a long time to be confirmed without question," Dumbledore explains. "How do you know?" She asks. Dumbledore reaches over to the nightstand and holds up a mirror for her. She tips her neck and nearly screams.

On her neck was a mark, almost like a branding. A Butterfly shaped scar was on the right side of her neck right in view. "My family," she couldn't let her family know about this! "They will learn on your terms I promise," he said. Mirabel looks at him than Harry. "Your mark was glowing when you protected me," he said than shows off his lightning bolt on his forehead. "Guess we're matching Huh?" He asks trying to make light of the events. Mirabel searches and found her bag.

She opens it and found her mother's cooking and she stuffs it in her mouth. She feels the effects, but when she looks in the mirror the mark isn't leaving! Quickly she stuffs more in her mouth almost choking, but it's not going away!

She starts crying and bunching up her hair trying to hide it. "Does anyone else know?" She asks. "I'm sorry to say so. It had been suspected since the talent show. Last night merely proved the rumours. When a carnation first begins serving their duties the mark appears. It can happen young, or old, but it's appearance always happens, after you walk out of here you'll be famous among the magical world," Dumbledore said. "But? Is that why everyone was scared of me?" She asks. Dumbledore takes a moment to pause.

"The Carnation is famous for their power. Though not confirmed there have been many evil wizards and witches to claim the identity. Voldemort was one of them, but it is simply this reason he wanted your power. For two carnations cannot exist at the same time," the headmaster explains. Mirabel looks down and blinks back tears. "I don't want to be famous, I just want to be Mirabel Madrigal," she says.

Dumbledore gives her a sympathetic look. "I don't want to be famous either," she looks at Harry. "But I promise we'll get through this together," he vows. Mirabel smiles at him glad she isn't going to be alone. "Gracie Harry. Glad to know I have a famous friend to help me," she says gratefully," she says.

Time Skip

The last month of the school year was pretty eventful. Gryffindor lost the quidditch cup because of their missing players and they got detention for what they did.

On the plus side Hermione, with George and Fred's help, helped prove that He who must not be named was not a carnation as Mirabel had been alive for a year before his downfall.

Thanks to them Mirabel became well loved by the students body again, especially the ones that wanted her to design embroidery for them. A task she completed happily.

She grew closer to Harry while in detention overheaded by Ms M who was mad at her, but overall upset at herself for not realizing Quirl's intentions. Mirabel had thanked Snape for how he tried protecting her and Harry, though he denies it. She still made him a bag for his potions.
