There was something about having an upcoming test that you weren’t prepared for that made you want to kill yourself. It was Tuesday after school and I was at the library skimming through my biology notes feeling completely despondent. The last 24 hours has been absolute hell. I couldn’t focus on anything. My head was spinning out of control replaying the scene of Lulu and Logan hugging over and over again.

I counted the hours and the cruel minutes throughout which I had to suffer ‘til I would finally get to see Logan again. When I got to health class earlier today my eyes were glued to the door waiting for him to enter but he never did. I wondered where he was and what he was doing or worst who he was doing. He could have been God knows where with Lulu Crane doing all kinds of pernicious acts with her. I groaned inwardly at the thought.

Why did Lulu Crane have to go for him? The school is filled with preppy guys her type that she could go for but yet she chose him. I have no shot with Logan if she’s around. Lulu is like a hot juicy piece of filet mignon steak that everyone wants to eat and I’m like a piece of tasteless white meat chicken that everyone is tired of. I didn’t compare so therefore I couldn’t compete and that was that.

I sat back on my chair planting my head on top of my biology book. What was the point of studying if I was going to fail? As long as this thing was bothering me nothing could retain my attention, not even my studies.

“Spencer!”

I heard someone call my name. I jerked my head up to find Quinn standing in front of me. Quinn? In a library, this couldn’t be right. Without words she took a seat opposite from me letting her book bag fall on the floor.

“I have awesome news,” she said clasping her hands. I narrowed my eyes waiting for her to tell me. “There’s a massive show at Black Light on Thursday and we’re going.”

“The club?” I asked confused.

“It’s a music club,” she said putting emphasis on the word music. “We are not going to get drunk. We are…. Well I’m going for the music and all the hot musicians and you’re going for Logan.”

I snorted, “There’s no way I can go.”

“Why not?” She deadpanned.

“Well first it’s a school night and my parents would never allow it. I don’t have a fake I.D so I’d never get in and I have my first Bio exam the next day so I have to stay home all night and study plus I have a five page paper due for English that I need to finish and…. I trailed, “I don’t really wanna see Logan.”

“First of all,” she began. “You don’t need to worry about a fake I.D, I got that covered. The age range is 18 and up and we can easily pass by. Second of all I can change your parent’s minds about letting you go. Third of all you’re, like, crazy smart so I have faith you’ll get all that school crap done and fourth of all,” she paused. “Please tell me you’re not still hung up over that hug.”

I shook my head yes.

“Oh my God Spencer!” She groaned, raising her hands up in frustration. “It was just a hug, one stupid hug that meant absolutely nothing. I still can’t believe you’re making such a big deal out of it.”

“I can’t help if it bothers me,” my voice sounded small. “Lulu is really pretty. There’s no way I can compete with her.”

“Lulu Crane is an insipid little bitch who has nothing going for her besides those Double-D’s!” She barked. A few heads were turned our direction but that didn’t stop Quinn. “She’s as mindless as they come. Believe me when I say this, Logan wants nothing to do with her.”
