"Lily's coming!" James squeaked as he plopped down in the seat next to Regulus in the library. The younger boy scrunched up his face and glanced at the door. Just as James had said, Lily was walking into the library.

"You're mental." Regulus mumbled, going back to his coursework. "I'm going to use one of those kisses now." James whispered, grabbing Regulus's face between his hands.
"Wha-"

James cut Regulus off by pressing their lips together firmly. Regulus inhaled sharply, his lips melting into James's. They pulled away after a few moments, and Regulus licked his now swollen lips to relieve the tingling feeling they had.

Regulus scanned the room quickly, finding Lily with her back to them as she read a book that she had taken from the shelf. He hoped that she had seen their little display of affection or else it would have been in vain.

"You've only got two more of those." Regulus reminded James, pressing a finger to his lips. James hummed, his gaze fixed on Lily. Regulus sighed and shook his head. "Go talk to her." He suggested, nudging James's side. James hesitated and Regulus nudged him again, harder this time. "Go talk to her or I will." He gritted out.

"Fine fine, I'm going." James stood up, but lingered by their table. "Fucking go or I will leave right now!" Regulus kicked James's ankle and gestured for him to start walking. James stuck his tongue out at him as he walked away.

Regulus went back to his coursework, not really interested in watching James and Lily's interaction.

"So? How'd it go?" Regulus asked once James sat back down next to him. "About as well as you'd expect." James mumbled dryly. "Well I was expecting a shit show so it definitely went better than what I was expecting." Regulus joked, though the face that James made told him that the other boy hadn't picked up on his sarcasm.

"Merlin, I was kidding." Regulus muttered grimly. "That's another thing I have to work on. My humour."

"Stop trying to work on yourself, you're fine." James huffed, sternly but not unkindly. "I could be better though." Regulus replied, beginning to pack away his school things. "Everyone could be better." James said. "Doesn't mean that they have to be."

"The things people do for love, I guess." Regulus hummed somewhat bitterly. James snorted. "You love Enzo?" He looked down at Regulus incredulously.

"I might."

"Your brother is in love with that Ravenclaw wanker!" James exclaimed loudly as he flopped down onto his bed. He heard Sirius laugh from across the room and lifted his head to look at him.

"No he isn't." Sirius muttered, absentmindedly playing with Remus's hair. "Yes he is. He told me so himself." James said, an annoyed edge to his tone. Sirius grimaced. "But I don't like him. Reg can't be in love with someone that I don't like. Surely he can't." Sirius replied.

"You can't decide who your brother dates. It doesn't matter if you don't like him, only matters if he does." Remus cut in, giving Sirius a pointed look. When Sirius didn't reply, he pressed on. "Would you break up with me if Regulus decided that he didn't like me?" Remus asked. Sirius didn't answer and turned back to James.

"Maybe I'll need to have a chat with that Hale prick." He muttered, brows creasing on his forehead. "I already did. He's an asshole." James said. "And he's been trying to get Regulus to change himself!" James said, utterly outraged. Sirius sat up, his hand slipping out of Remus's hair.

"What do you mean change himself?" Sirius asked, scoffing. "Why would Reg have to change? He's perfect." Sirius sounded even angrier than James had when he first found out. "He's been telling him that he has to be nicer."

"Okay, I'm definitely going to have a chat with him."
