James paced around his shared bedroom with the map in his hands. "Filch is going past the dungeons, if we're going to do this it has to be now." He grabbed his wand from his bed and looked over at Sirius,Remus and Peter who were sitting on Remus's bed. "I'm sorry, what was the plan again?" Peter scratched the back of his head, his brows drawn together in confusion.

"Right, this is the last time I'm saying this so pay attention!" James said. "Me and Moony will take the cloak and get into the Slytherin common room while some other student is going in. Sirius and Peter will wait out in the hall and we'll let you guys in when the snakes go to bed. Then we find Snape's bedroom and hex him by dyeing his hair green or something- actually fuck that he'd probably like for it to be green, we'll make it pink." James explained in a rushed tone.

"This is stupid, we're risking detention and points just to prank Snape. We could do this tomorrow in the library or something." Remus grumbled. "But Moons- just think of everyone's faces when Severus Snape walks into the Great Hall tomorrow morning with pink hair. It'll be epic!" James replied with a bright smile on his face.

When Remus gave him a disapproving look, James turned to Sirius. "Padfoot, back me up." James said, looking at his best friend pleadingly. Sirius shrugged and pushed his hair back. "It would be brilliant to have the whole school laughing at him." Sirius mused.

"I agree with James and Pads." Peter spoke up earning a glare from Remus. "Right, then it's settled. We're doing this." James nodded proudly.

"Yeah except we don't have to stake out and wait for someone to open the portal..." Sirius said as he played with his nails. "What do you mean?" Peter asked. "I know the password, we'll just wait until their all in their rooms and then we can go." Sirius replied.

There was a beat of silence, Peter, Remus and James staring at Sirius in complete and utter confusion.

"You're telling me that you know the password to the Slytherin common room?" Remus asked incredulously. Sirius shrugged and pushed some hair out of his face again. "When did you make this ground breaking discovery and why wasn't I informed immediately?!" James exclaimed, holding a hand to his chest to feign a betrayed look.

"Reg told me in his first year." Sirius shrugged again, acting as if it weren't a big deal that he'd been keeping this from his best friends. "So...You've known for like five years and haven't said anything! Do you know how many pranks we could've been pulling?" Peter squeaked and James nodded his head in agreement with the blonde.

"Wait- why would he tell you the password to the common room?" Remus asked suddenly.

Sirius paused and scratched the back of his head before letting out a chuckle. "He wanted me to check for monsters under his bed." Sirius laughed, recalling how Regulus had seemed so scared to fall asleep. "Monsters?" James repeated, his brows drawing together. "Regulus is afraid of monsters?"

"Oh yeah, he wouldn't even unpack his trunk until I checked the closet for him to make sure nothing was hiding in there." Sirius replied. James opened his mouth to comment on how adorable a scared little Regulus must've been but Peter spoke before he could form any words.
