"Wake up." Regulus whispered, shaking Sirius' shoulder gently so that he didn't wake up Remus who was sleeping next to him. Regulus rolled his eyes when Sirius shifted in his sleep, but didn't wake up. "Get up!" Regulus hissed as quietly as he could, taking a quick glance at Peter and James' beds to make sure that they were still asleep. "Siri, wake up!" Regulus slapped his brother's head lightly, eliciting a groan from the older boy.
"What the fu-" Sirius cut himself off and looked up at Regulus tiredly. "Happy birthday." Regulus whispered softly, smiling at Sirius who was still wiping sleep out of his eyes. "What time is it?" Sirius muttered, looking down at Remus who was still sleeping soundly. "A bit after midnight." Regulus replied, helping Sirius out of bed. "You woke me up in the middle of the night to wish me a happy birthday?!" Sirius exclaimed angrily which resulted in Regulus slapping his hand against his brother's mouth to silence him.
"Come with me." Regulus whispered, tip toeing towards the door. Sirius looked back at his and Remus' bed longingly then hesitatingly followed Regulus out of the dorm.

"You're taking me to the kitchen?" Sirius grumbled, still half asleep as he trailed behind Regulus. "Be quiet or you'll wake the portraits!" Regulus warned, gripping Sirius' arm to drag him along. When they got to the kitchen, Regulus allowed Sirius to tickle the pear and smiled once the door opened.
"What are we doing in here?" Sirius asked, throwing himself down onto a stool dramatically. Regulus rolled his eyes at his brother's theatrical behaviour. "I wanted to give you this." Regulus mumbled, pulling a cake out. It was small, red and said HAPPY BIRTHDAY in big gold letters. Sirius looked down at the cake, then back at Regulus with a big smile. "You baked me a cake?" Sirius asked, smiling at Regulus' back as the younger brother rummaged through some drawers for candles.
"Yes. It's bloody harder than it looks, by the way. Had to use some magic." Regulus mumbled, lighting the candles with his wand. When he finally looked at Sirius for a reaction, he saw that his brother was nearly in tears as he looked down at the cake. "A cake?" Sirius repeated, finally looking up to meet Regulus's eyes. "Why are you crying? Is it not good?" Regulus asked, frowning sadly. "What? No, Reg it's fucking amazing. I love it." Sirius got up and hugged his brother. "I wanted to make up for all of those years that you didn't get one." Regulus mumbled, pulling away from Sirius.
Sirius let out a little sigh, recalling how birthdays went back at the Grimmauld Place. Their parents never baked cakes or gave presents. Birthdays back home weren't a celebration of life, they were merely just another day that went by. Occasionally, Kreacher would sneak them gifts or treats on their birthdays, but that was the full extent of their celebrations.
"Well go on." Regulus nudged Sirius out of his thoughts. "Blow out your candles, make a wish." Regulus encouraged, smiling at Sirius. The older brother laughed softly, closing his eyes as he blew out all seventeen candles. He didn't make a wish as Regulus had said.
He already had everything that he could wish for.

"Where did you go?" Remus asked, barely giving Sirius time to close the door behind him as he slipped back into the dorm. "I was with my brother." Sirius replied. "Come here." Remus beckoned him over. Sirius smiled brightly, running to jump back into bed, laying flat on top of his boyfriend. Remus let out a low groan at the impact of the jump, but didn't push Sirius off of him. "Happy birthday." Remus said, kissing Sirius' forehead. Their sweet moment was ruined by a loud voice.
"Oi, where did you disappear to last night?" James exclaimed, walking out of the bathroom. "Oh and by the way, happy birthday." He added. Sirius rolled his eyes and rolled off of Remus, laying beside him instead of on top of him. "Was with Reg." Sirius explained shortly, smiling to himself. "He didn't come back with you?" James asked, his ears perking up at the sound of his boyfriend's name. Sirius shook his head. "No, he has an early morning Quidditch practice so he had to go back to his dorm." Sirius explained.
"What did you guys do?" James asked, making himself comfortable on the end of the bed, making sure not to sit on Remus's feet. "He made me a cake." Sirius said happily, his smile widening. "I didn't know that Regulus bakes." Remus said, furrowing his eyebrows. "He doesn't. Had to magic it, but it was still brilliant." Sirius replied, sitting up against the headboard. "My first ever birthday cake."
"First ever?" James exclaimed, shooting up from the bed. Peter groaned behind them, stirring in his sleep. They casted a quick glance at him, making sure that they hadn't woken him up before continuing their discussion. "Our family doesn't exactly celebrate birthdays." Sirius explained, stretching his arms out. "Does your family ever do anything fun?" James asked, scoffing at the end of his sentence. "We used to travel a lot." Sirius shrugged.
"You guys are so loud." Peter grumbled from his bed, sitting up slightly. When his eyes finally opened and landed on Sirius, the blonde jumped up and ran over to tackle Sirius onto the bed. "Happy birthday, Pads!" Peter shouted. "Now who's being loud?" Sirius mused.
