"I know" of all the things you thought Edward would say to that "I know" was at the bottom of the list. "What?" Was definitely at the top, and "you're crazy" was definitely up there but "I know" had honestly never crossed your mind. As your heart races your realize you've been standing, staring, mouth agape. Before you can find words he speaks again "how did you figure it out?" His everlasting stoicism is disconcerting, here you are, your entire world view collapsing and he just stands there questioning how you pieced Ricky's secret together. At last you respond, "he sparkles" as soon as you say it you realize how stupid it sounds, "and his soup... it was blood" you continued. "Gosh, you're smart" he said, "so now you know he has no idea what he's talking about right?" He finished. You stand up,"What? That's what you got from this?" You whisper scream "why didn't you just tell me?" He smiles for the first times since you've seen him "would you have believed me?" He asks, admittedly no you wouldn't have but he could've given you some proof. You start to say as much but then you remember "wait, how do you know?" His face falls, "my uh.." he trails off. Suddenly you feel a chill run down your spine. After a minute he quickly finishes "my dad is his doctor, uh yeah and I pieced it together" you stare into his cold eyes, you try desperately to get a reading on him but it's like he's... missing something? But something about him makes you want to trust him so you decide to let it go (AN: yeah YN is an idiot) so you simply respond "oh" halfheartedly. He looks concerned but tries to hide it. "Um, it's getting kind of late I should go" he says "you don't have to-" "no it's really late, we have school tomorrow" you follow him to the door and hold it open for him, "I think... maybe we shouldn't see each other anymore" he says in a low voice, "that's what I came here to tell you" "why?" You ask in shock, "today, I've been thinking about Bella" he gets choked up saying her name "she" he clears his throat "she died, because of me. And I can't let that happen again" Because of him? You can't begin to wonder what it means because he kisses you on the cheek and walks out. As he walks into the cold night air you begin to question why Edward looks at you so.. hungrily. Why he thought to search a random schoolmate's medical records. There are a lot of things about him that don't make sense
