The drive back is fast considering my mind is racing with so many thoughts and questions. I have always done as I was told and never really thought to ask questions.
I have tried to call Adam, Zac and Lyncon but no one is answering, giving me even more to think about.
Victor said all the underground facilities were in no way connected to us at all which gives me a little breathing space the further I drive away from the shipping yard.
Victor always said the shipping yard was the closest guarded secret because as long as it stayed safe all the rest could fall and it wouldn't damage the organization.
Now it's in the hands of the government. All those girls are now safe but Victor is going to be hard to handle once he finds out about this and I don't want Holly, Beth and Jeremy copping what comes next.
I turn into the driveway and gladly find it empty of visitors or cops, remembering again it had no way to be traced back to Victor and yet I still feel uneasy.
I quickly park and run up the stairs, taking them two at a time and leaving my car door open in the rush.
"HOLLY! BETH! JEREMY!"
I yell each of their names hoping to hear something. I check in every room looking for them. Not even a servant is around which starts to worry me even more.
"VICTOR! Where the hell is everyone?"
I give up on the house and run out the front doors and back to the car. Once I get there I see a black Mercedes block my 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO in, stopping me from moving. The back window goes down revealing Victor in the back seat.
"What's going on? Where is everyone?"
"I was about to ask you the same thing."
I freeze, staring at him. "You don't know where Holly and the kids are?"
"No, I came back and found no one here so I sent everyone off to look for Holly and the kids. We can't afford to have them on the loose, especially right now when things are very rocky."
I think for a moment he's talking about all this as if he has no idea about the shipping yard, which means he had no part in sending that message to get me out of there before they hit.
"Get in. We will look together," he says, opening the back door to let me. I feel uneasy about this but I get in anyway.
Victor seems pleased, showing me something is definitely wrong and I somehow saved myself in some way. I notice his left hand in his pocket relaxes and retreats to rest on the luxury leather arm rest at his side, confirming my suspicions I just dodged a bullet in the literal sense.
"What's going on Victor?" I ask him with my most no nonsense voice I can muster.
He looks at me and decides to trust me with whatever is going on. "I will release you from any marital contracts and sign the kids over to you legally as long as I get Holly."
There it is. Holly and whatever her fake profile means has been uncovered and I was just tested to see if I had any part in it.
"Holly's our spy, isn't she?"
"It does look that way but all the pieces don't fit. She was at the learning centre for the last ten years. She had no way of knowing she would be taken and she had no way of contacting anyone outside those walls."
"I had a similar issue after Zac told me."
Victor doesn't say anything so my hunch Zac gave him this information was correct with my back up. This seals Zac's trustworthy and usefulness, which for now keeps them alive.
