It's been a while since I dawned the old red suit. It felt good, like meeting an old friend and him being the same as the first time we met. Since my last encounter with electro, I decided to upgrade the armory. Better body protection-can stop a bullet point blank- and some higher class metal staff. Can't leave home with out it.
The night had been good so far: 3 drug busts and a few petty crimes here and there. It was fun, beating up the bad guys agin. Need this to take my mind off of all the laws and registration crap going on. Something caught my attention: a raid going on 5 blocks away. It was a group of cape killers: a unit of shield agents sent to come after those who didn't sign with them. I ran through the window as they searched the building. "Nothing here, hill. D man musta jum-" he got cut off from all the blood in his throat. "David!!!" I threw a billy club to hit his neck, make sure no one noticed. Whoever was picking these guys off must be a super: the rate at which that guy died is impossible from a thug. Hopefully he's a friendly. There came an odd smell from the back door of the house: gasoline. "LIGHT IT UP!" They shouted as everything went to flames. 2 people were trapped upstairs. Time to put this new armor to use. I ran outside, climbed up a tree, and tied my bolla around a branch. I swung into the second story, and created an escape route. Good job. Now to find the survivors. One was trapped, had his leg caught under at least a ton of rubble. I couldn't get him out but-"stand aside horn head" shouted a burly voice. I moved as told. Something about the sound of his voice and his odor....familiar. I heard a large crash and all the sudden the rubble was gone. The man literally ran with the force of a rhino to take it out. I grabbed the two survivors and handed them to the fire dept.. When I went up on top of a skyscraper,I met my new friend- D man aka Dennis dumphrey. He was a good soldier and one of caps closest allies. Heck he even saved his life. "Still running around with sticks?" he joked "yeah. Still taking fashion advice from me and wolverine?" I could see the slight chuckle in his motions. "I'd like thsi meeting to be under better circumstances but shield is acting fast: and they aren't just starting here. A few days ago some guy named the albatross saved 200-two hundred-people and was met with tazers and gun fire. The mans locked up now, God knows where, with his family out of work." I cringed...this is what was to result of the act? "I hope your not on the quote "right" side of things.." I looked towards him. It was the first time in a while I've seen him this scared, and this determined. "No, I'm trying to save the law. Battling it in congress. Trying not to throw the first punch." He looked towards me and said "but will you when the time comes? When you'll have to pick up your sticks and nunchucks and fight for your life? That's what matters". He jumped off the building into the night. He was right. We are all gonna need to pick up our weapons soon wether we want to or not.
